Let's Talk Trackers

  1. OMFG That is unbelievable. And that was actually a real theft right, not one of them spoof vids just to see folks reaction, if so I cant believe nobody did owt. Although having said that, one of my neighbours once stopped to help a lad who was getting the sh!t kicked out of him by a group of teen yobs, ended up getting battered and hospitalised himself as a result, and he's a handy lad. If these types have the nerve to do stuff like that in broad daylight, who knows what they would do to anyone that tried to stop them.

Its a sad society when scum like this can seemingly get away with stuff like that.

  2. True. They are pushing the boundaries of lawlessness further and further.

And I bet the whole area is covered in 'crime reducing, no citizen spying, CVTV'

  3. Dash cam footage came out a couple of weeks ago of one youth chasing down another, getting him on the ground and repeatedly stabbing him. Broad daylight, busy London. They really don't care.

  4. We almost need something like another world war to thin out the shallow end of the gene pool...

  7. I've got Bike Trac fitted to the Anni and certainly gives you a bit of peace and mind. Only negative is that it will drain your battery pretty much flat in as little as 4-5 days if the bike is left unused. I put the charger on my bike every time I park it up at home now.

  8. Mine can be left for weeks with no issue. KTM though, maybe others run their battery capacity a little too close to the wire.

  9. Can’t expect that sort of practicality with Ducati

  10. I have found another bike, and have also ordered an Almax chain and a Police style baton to go with it. Now need the Tracker, is the BikeTrac the one to go for? I see on their website it does have it's own app, which is nice. £300 for the product, £100 a year sub.

  11. You missed a zero off your product cost, should be £300 fitted by an authorised agent. I have had Bike Trac for nearly 6 years and like the product without as yet having had to call on their services. The latest unit is smaller and easier to secrete away. The app is due a revision having been a bit basic in comparison to the web site. Big bonus is you can disarm it for servicing and moving it around on a trailer. The control room is quick to contact you when the movement detector goes off and the only down side I’ve had is the “rider down” notification, it has gone off as I put the bike on the side standand has gone off on the (very odd) when I’ve got it right and git the bike cranked over. The V4 will get one which means we have 4 units in the family. Andy

  12. Do you get a discount on your insurance for the police baton? I hope so, and hopefully even more of a discount for giving the tea leaves a good beating with it!:innocent:

  13. After sales - excellent.
    App - good.
Peace of mind when leaving bike unattended - good.
Low battery indicator msgs to phone - useful.

Battery drain - relatively high, particularly if used in conjunction with a useless alarm etc.
Finding a suitable place for concealment can be an issue on certain bikes. The moped/sports direct crew are familiar with the common places and therefore the recovery rate from biketrac is relatively high, but unfortunately the device is not always attached to the bike.

However, it’s still the one I would go for . Correct installation ( difficult to get to) is key.

Just need a POLITE vest to go with your sex baton & you are good to go.

  14. Bike Trac owners; why does the app only give you updates every three hours or so, not in real time? I looked on their website but the FAQ's are pretty useless.

Is the battery voltage in real time though, or is that fro the same time as the asset report?

  15. I rarely use the app now. Had issues when turning off the security centre on the app and it not registering their end. Ended up with multiple false calls when doing my service because the app just wasn’t working.

Their mobile web page has no issues so i’ll continue to use that.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  16. Also, I’m pretty sure unless triggered via movement or ignition, the tracker only checks in every now and then to reduce battery drain.

    Edit!

    Just found this...

“When connected to your bike’s battery / power supply; with the ignition off, the Bike Trac unit will effectively ‘sleep’ and wake every 4 hours to send its location details to the central computer server.”

That’s obviously unless women by movement

  17. The link between the bike and the control centre is I believe event initiated or every 2 hours not real time unless you initiate the link. The App is IMO under developed but is being worked on. I believe an update is due out about now. Andy

  19. New BikeTrac feature. Servicing reminders. Set a mileage/time (can do ‘or’ too) and BikeTrac email you reminders about servicing. You can set the reminder threshold too.
