I purchased one of these for my Monster after reading about a fellow forum members Monster being stolen within minutes whilst he popped into his local supermarket. The scumbags broke his steering lock and pushed it away with the help of another scumbag who was on another bike. The Roadlok bolts to the lower fork leg / brake calliper using the new bolts provided, and there's also a number of spacers in the kit to allow the Roadlok to be fitted to a number of bikes. It's reassuring having one on my bike as you hope that any opportunist thief will move on seeing that you have one fitted. I've been so impressed with the one on my Monster, I've just purchased another one to fit to my new bike, and when placing the order, I ordered two. I was going to keep the second one as a "spare", but as I'm selling my BMW R1200 that I fitted one to as well, I'll keep that one allowing me to sell the new spare one. Collection welcome from Oxford, or I can post it at you expense. £225.00
The locking pin removes and is carried by the rider. A blanking plug closes off the hole to prevent dirt getting in.
Thanks for posting that up Andy. With the design, fit and quality, I have absolutely no concerns what so ever that the unit would or could fail.
No worries. I have one on my 899, I can't rave about them enough. Not the cheapest bit of kit but worth every penny IMHO. No chance of riding off with it still attached like a generic disc locks, the pin is easy to carry unlike lugging around a generic disc lock. Great design and well made piece of kit
Hi Pavey, are you local to Oxford? I only ask as I'm 99.9% sure it will fit, as they do fit BMW bikes as well as KTM etc, but to be sure I would fit it for you, or we fit it together at mine? WILL THE ROADLOK AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OF MY MOTORCYCLE OR BRAKES? No. The RoadLoK system has been tested for both braking system impact and theft-prevention capability by IMR Test Labs and Thatcham UK. The weight of the entire system is under 300 grams and will have no impact on handling, cornering or braking. As for security, the system can withstand the required amount of attack time to be certified for Thatcham approval in the United Kingdom. Each system type has been tested by IMR Test Labs on interference with factory braking systems and has been found to have no negative impact.
Not a million miles away, Hertfordshire officially but I can taste the smog of the M25. I’ve had a google, think it fits but will do a bit more research in the morning and get back to you. Would like it all being well.
I will have it if it fits, don't get the bike until Friday though. I've pm'd Roy this morning. One area i thought would may be a weak point is the thin ali between both cylinders, do you think a grinder could be used in there to separate the two?
I wouldn't think so. The mechanical latch is quite deep down the barrel and thats what would need cutting. Without some highly destructive testing I guess we'll never no. I trust it to protect my pride and joy.
I agree with Andy, you wouldn't remove one of these easy, and it would take time and cause a lot of damage to the brake, disc and fork leg making the bike unridable I would imagine. Like Braz, I trust mine to keep my bikes safe, but if they want it, they will get it, but this will certainly make it impossible to push away with some scumbag pushing it alone on a moped. Anyway, SOLD to Pavey subject to it fitting, and he's popping up next weekend so we can. Thank you all for your support in promoting my Bikelok, and a very Happy New Year to you all.
