She's Dead

  1. Hi wondering if anyone has had similar problem 2012 multistrada
at switch on dash comes on with no backlight fuel pump noes not start up
in window errors displayed dtc off ecu error battery
does same with master key and manual switch new battery in fob plus fitted new batterie and tested
to bike occasionally can go to bike and she behaves normally but have not been able to started for last 3 days now
though it might be ecu but every now and then all is normal

  2. Is it keyless?

  3. Check battery leads... I had similar issue with a bike that turned out to be a great connection from the battery to the bike lead and a loose connection from the bike lead to the earth. Dash would illuminate, good charge in battery but wouldn't turn the starter. If the circuit is unstable that may cause the reporting of the many errors.

(also check fuses - you don't mention those).

    Cheers
    /ic

  4. Thanks for reply have checked out leads swaped all fuses just in case
its a strange one as the dash wont fully light up ie no backlight no nutrol light
    etc

  5. yes keyless new batterie fitted 3 times wont come on with red key or button on tank new batt fitted to bike output ok

  6. My 848 dash backlight went out when my Reg Rec let go. I had a couple of odd lights on the dash but it did register a fault code.

  7. Does sound like electrical gremlins. Might be a shorter diagnostic solution to get it hooked up to OBD...

  8. Thanks you are probably right but i,m stubborn like to know whats going on
cant trust bike at all as its so erratic wont work friday fine sat fine sun morning wont work sun afternoon just have to hope she misbehaves at dealer
    thanks for help

  9. Someone here smarter (@chrisw ?) should be able to tell you which version of downloadable software / eBay leads should give you the ability to plug your bike into your laptop and interrogate for fault codes. This might be an alternative, cheaper and repeatable option.

With my 749 I spend @ £15 from memory on leads and downloaded Ducatidiag software to gain OBD access that allowed me to do all kinds of exciting stuff. :)

    Good luck mate!

  10. It's worth changing all your relays as these can cause problems. Relays are cheap and many people replace them regularly as a matter of course
Also, do give your fuses a good wiggling to remove any slight oxidation that may have built up.
A slight possibility is the ECU earth

  13. Hey thanks for all the help so far still love the bike even though she
has had all the usual issues over the last year so far this evening she
Failed to fire up then after swapping relays she worked ok put relays back to original positions she still worked went back to bike 30 mins later
Dash fails to light up so frustrating can't use bike as I will get stranded
    Somewhere

  14. Which suggests you have a duff relay, so good idea to replace the lot.
Relays are electro-mechanical miniature solenoids and are subject to corrosion, stickiness and poor contacts.
Only a few pounds each - use your forum trade card to get some even cheaper from Halfords

  15. Friend had a very similar issue, turned out to be a failed keyless module, and sadly they are very expensive. I hope it's something else.
