  3. "The fastest time of the day was recorded by Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes on qualifying tyres but on race rubber" Can someone pls explain? Or just misspelling?
V4R..1.5 sec slower than the 1199R is not bad considering the latest has thousands of racing miles of development.
    EDIT:
Was Chaz and Melandri riding the V4 or the V2 in the second day?

  4. Sykes was on qualifying rubber which is ultra sticky and good for 2 or 3 laps. The V4 was on race rubber which is less sticky and longer lifed and you would expect the race rubber to be slower than qualifying rubber in a one off timed lap. Whether it is 1.5 seconds slower, I need more information to make a comparison. As I read the article, Melandi and Davies are not expected to ride the V4 until mid season testing. Andy

  5. Yes, more and less 1 sec per lap quicker.
However that sentence did not made sense to me..."qualifying tyres on race rubber". :):) probably who ever wrote that mistyped.
"The fastest time of the day was recorded by Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes on qualifying tyres but on race rubber"

  6. Read it with a comma after qualifying tyres and it makes sense.
