Hi. About to put the 17 airbox kit on my 16DVT. When I tried to take the tank cover off, I found the panhead bolt would not come off, but just spin. The ferule embedded in the plastic tank was turning as well, on both side. I did not worry too much about this till I noticed it also leaked fuel from around the ferule on one side. I am looking for any advice on how to repair this if at all possible. I look forward to a fix?
If it were me I’d be speaking to ducati....the ferrule could be re glued using 2 part epoxy resin but the fact that you’re leaking fuel would be a worry. Without some photos it’s diffic to speculate but I’d be looking for a warranty claim
Well till now have not found a way to remove the seized nut from the fertile imbedded in the tank plastic either
Yes, should be a warranty claim since the dealer was the last one to do up the bolts. Cant get them out, the ferule just spins. If I could get the bolts off, I might have a chance of dremelling around them sealing them up properly with epoxy. I have forced some epoxy in the fine opening between the ferule and plastic and it has stopped them from spinning. Hopefully will hold and stop slight fuel leak till I can work something out. Thanks I have managed to get a second hand tank from Amsterdam for 130 Euro delivered. I think I have done well in that regard. Next comes the tank removal and after reading a few threads on how easy it is to damage the fuel line connector at the fuel pump, I though I would ask for any do's and dont's from those who have some experience in removing the fuel pump. Any advice will be appreciated. In partiuclar, does it pull straight out - the line looks a little short to do that.
Yes you push down the surround of the connector and pull up on the pipe. Might be a little stiff but that because it maybe dry.
