So conservative.

  1. i was wondering the other day why ducatis rarely get painted any colour but standard. They get resprayed quite often, but tend to be variations on a standard theme.Just wondered why?

  2. I think its because they look so good as they are and don't need a 'gaudy' paint job to standout from the rest of the crowd.

The classic italian styling speaks volumes

  3. Think that about sums it up.

  4. We have the matte black monster (coolest colour by far) and a blue ST4 (least common colour).
It does seem that red an yellow have become the only options - strange really as Ducati used to do all sorts of odd colours "back in the day".
I would love to have the ST4 repainted in red/white/green if I could afford it. Traditional Ducati colours but something out of the ordinary...

  5. Aye. Most GSXRs and 'blades would look much nicer in a single colour rather than as if someone puked down the side of them in a wind tunnel. You don't see any high-end car manufacturers going for the chunderpaint effect.

Duc could use a few more single colours though (if that was the point being made) - colours like the Senna grey, with the red wheels, looked fabulous.

  6. Except Audi R8s and Bugatti Veyrons...

  7. The traditional matt Dark's were like that because Ducati noticed that a lot of people were customizing their bikes (see he11cat's bike pictures), so they were 'custom ready'. Then because people are odd we all decided we liked the Darks just as they were. Really bad use of English there I am afraid, my only excuse being I am watching the last part Being Human on the TV.

  8. Such a shame that in their conservatism, they couldn't keep to the same shades of respective colours! A massive PITA trying to colour match

  9. The shades of red between new and old dukes are very different...

  10. Same colours as Ferrari?

  11. Just be thankful they don't come in brown.

  12. We resprayed a Dassault Falcon 20 (small french private jet) the other day for a customer they asked for a specific brown with gold detailing

we phoned to ask if they were really sure

it really does look like a flying terd....

  13. turd.

My white monster looks lovely - the pearlescent is much nicer than the 1098/848 variation.

  14. But doesn't it share the same paint code as the pre evo pearlescent White 848?

  15. 'fraid I don't know the codes. Maybe there's more lacquer over the paint, but the difference is dramatic.

  16. Tis a far better colour than the arctic white of the 848 EVO and 1198 IMHO.
