retractable bollard that drops out of sight into the ground fitted at your expense no reasonable landlord would say no to this
Sounds like some picturesque gatehouse cottage. I would take issue myself due to the potential ongoing service costs should it go wrong when they’ve left. I’d allow a ground anchor though.
Barrel is still a good idea. Especially with red flowers Yes, picturesque gatehouse cottage. Has tight twists and turns making getting the bike into the house impossible even if I had the room. I need to accommodate two teenagers when I have the children staying so have already given up the living room to become bedroom 3. Dining room is now small living room plus my office. The parking space is well hidden from public view as it is, the street is very quiet, no through traffic and off the beaten track, residents and deliveries only. Kicking myself for suggesting a bollard and not just introducing the bike. Hindsight, wonderful thing... My paranoia has gotten the better of me, having had 3 bikes lifted in London does that to you. Shouldn't have laid it on so thick when making my original request. Though I've been in this area for 14 years now, always parked outside under a cover and never had any bother. It's usually mowers and chainsaws that get stolen from sheds that's the problem. Will seek them out for a chat together to try and allay their fears. However, if this appeal falls on deaf ears I'm sort of stuffed. My sister's, where the bike is currently stored, is 15 miles away so far from ideal. Will be left with the option of ignoring their request and relying on that fact that the lease does allow it, though as said, this will likely lead to friction and my lease being terminated in 9 months time when it's up for renewal. The alternative is finding and paying rent on a garage locally. Despite this maybe being better in the eyes of my insurers I won't sleep easy unless it's close and discrete. Will also cost more and I'm already living beyond my means maintaining two households.
Even if they’re initially peturbed by your ignoring their wishes, in 9 months time they may well have wondered what all the fuss was and have forgotten about it. You could claim ignorance and say you thought their issue was just the bollard and you’ve done without. Easier to seek forgiveness than permission
He was quite clear about not wanting the bike there at all in his later response, after he'd discussed it with his wife.
Sadly I think it’s probably more a case of he wife not liking the idea of a loud and antisocial motorbike starting up in the mornings. Crime probably has nothing to do with it. I’ve previously been told by my aunt & uncle’s former landlady, to leave the bikes at the bottom of the lane and not ride up to the house because she didn’t like the noise. Introducing them slowly it is then. Maybe pop home for a spot of lunch and have the bike temporarily parked in your spot.
I cant comment on your legal situation but as a landlord I was delighted when I found out my tennant was a biker. As to a previous post DO NOT take your bike into the house.
Sadly I too thought that this might be a distinct possibility. I ride maybe once a week during the summer months with a few longer trips in the UK and abroad every year. Whilst I do have an after-market exhaust I am fully capable of not making that too obvious in situations like this. It's not as if I'll be riding off at 6am every morning revving the nuts off the thing. But, yes, if it's prejudice then I'm frankly screwed.
Tell them you have a beautiful red ducati would they like to see it and you have nice ducati friends and females too like me who has a fetish for bins
You should seduce and sleep with his wife and any other family members you fancy cause this guy sounds like a right shit.
Service costs ??? simple retractable bollard goes down using gravity and comes up when you lift it up there are no mechanical parts, wiring, hydraulics gears or anything to service
wanted the "proper ones" when we installed the cheapest we could find after wifes car was nicked The cheap ones do the same job at a fraction of the cost but its hard work to break concrete up and install them but touch wood no cars nicked since then
