Ive been looking at the ones at the top of the page as mine are the worst headlights ive ever ridden with. I have adjusted the angle a bit but not ridden since but they are not bright enough in my book anyway. I like the idea of HID but I cant live with the ballast. Bulbs: DUCATI / Biposto 749 / 2005-2007 Oh and because I have a taller screen when my high beam is on it bounces back off the inside of the screen and dazzles me so might be taking a view on that. Im going to try using electrical tape on the inside of the screen (black bit) or even try painting it matt black to avoid the glare. Try the link as they are a "weird" fitment so not halfords friendly. JC
I fitted a HID conversion on my 749 .... great result. Full kit was a model specific plug and play kit from ebay. Went for the 6000k colour. Cost about £45 to £50 ish 2 years ago. Specific bike slim line ballast that fitted easily inside the head light clam shell. Only fitted on low beam. There is a slight delay in HID bulbs "igniting". Hence, not used much in high beam as they may not "ignite" if you just flick the high beam flash for a second. 6000K Diamond White 6000K has an approximately 2800lm output, which is 3x the light output of the traditional halogen light and slightly less light output compared to the 5000K. Although it has a bit lesser light output, it emits pure white light with very slight and barely noticeable tint of blue and purple
Did you get any in the end? Ive just bought a set of Ring +100% bulbs for the front and an LED stop & tail bulb as my exhaust keeps shaking mine to death. Will do a review when they turn up. I also replaced my headlight relay and its already made the oem bulbs much brighter as it was rotten.
Are the 749 lights any different to the 999 ones? Would seem surprising. I think the 999 lamps are best on any bike I've owned. Weird UK spec? Seems unlikely too.
Nope, they are the same. The only difference can be between which one of the lights is full/main beam and of course which side the reflector is biased towards (nearside for UK). I know US spec bikes have the top bulb as main beam and bottom as full which is the opposite to UK spec bikes. Mine have been the worst lights ive ever had which has slowed me down at night but as ive said above, replacing the relay made a big difference and the bulbs the same sort of gain again. I know many like HID kits but I just cant live with the ballast pack.
Surprised by this, the bike specific HID kits come with a slim line ballast pack that easily sits in side the headlight shell. The light from the HID is so much better than standard.
I'd be careful in the future regarding installing HID kits in bikes as they are now included in MOT checks, and there are some pretty stringent checks regarding self leveling requirements.
