Identifying 999 Ohlins Forks

  1. Hello good folks of the interwebs..

    I have just stripped and cleaned my set of 999 Ohlins forks but cannot find specs on oil, capacity or level. Did a bit of digging on the Ohlins database and it says they are from a Ducati 999 SBE, the code on the forks is FG8920;

    What on earth does 'SBE' stand for? other sources say its 2005>2006 R model forks.

    So... help?

  2. Superbike???

  3. Google comes back with 749R/RS, 999R. Andy

  4. Yeah I read somewhere they used them on 749's in BSB, cool to know but doesn't help!

  5. Thought that was 'sbk'?

  6. Commonly, yes but maybe not for Ohlins.

  7. 2004 parts book suggests standard 999R for MY04 on part number 34022421A and 34022422A, the part number changes each year and is different for the S and Xerox models. Probably worth a call to Craig at Moto Rapido as the part number goes through A, B, C and D variants as well as completely different variations of numbers

  8. Thanks for the help guys!

    Went with the generic "Ohlins road and track 43mm" manual, The closest looking internals I could find. Pretty much identical except mine has a radial calliper mount. Went with a conservative air gap of 100mm, The manual said 110-80 and talking to a suspension guy earlier the compression valve stack looks quite beefy on mine, If it is for a 749rs maybe that might explain it... Stiffer for heavier braking? at Donnington in a few weeks so I'll bring some oil and have a play if it feels really off.
