If so I'd like to pick your brains please. I've just bought a motorhome based on an Iveco daily 3. It has a digital tachograph fitted from when it was a commercial vehicle. I have no need of the tacho, so was wondering if I can just "unplug" it from the loom, or is it more involved than that ? Don't want to remove it only to find speedo stops working or something stupid
Hi.I'm not a truck mechanic, but I do own/run a fleet of them,so I have a reasonable knowledge of them.Unless you need the DIN slot for something else,I would leave it be:they're not worth much secondhand, and if you have it registered on the V5 as a motorhome you won't need to use it.If you have to have it removed, take it to a Tachograph Centre and have them do it.Larger Ivecos use a CanBus electrical system,if you lose so much as an interior light bulb you get a warning on your dash, drives me mad trying to keep up with all the tiny niggly faults. I'll ask my fitter Monday what he thinks, get you a more expert opinion.
