I Give Up - How To Remove Shift Rod On 899?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by jasonboswell, Feb 18, 2018.

  1. I'm sure there's an obvious answer, but its eluding me..

How do I get to the hex bolts that retain the gear linkage rod? For A, the only think I can think is that I need to remove the clutch slave cylinder as its bang in the way of the hex, and then if that can be removed then the whole lot can come away with the hanger so I can get to B.

Is that right? Or is there a far simpler way?

  2. i think this one is for Nelly,,but have a play with other bolts this will lead up to where you want to Go:thinkingface:

  3. In the time you took to do the picture and arrows you could have done as you describe and finished the job

  4. You've pretty much cracked it. Slave cylinder off then as you described

  5. Believe me, that's a full day in the garage for me . ...although I am now mid-way through installing the Blipbox.

  6. Cheers Nelly. Presumably it can just go back on without need for a gasket or bleeding?

  7. A blip box! Witchcraft

  8. Yep. Should be just fine.

  9. Progress of sorts! A v. pleasant hour spent fettling in the garage, Jo Whiley on the radio, slave cylinder off, degreased everything, switched the shifting rod, then all back together. Twice. (Found the load cell was catching on the sprocket cover so had to make adjustments.) And not a hacksaw in sight!!
