  1. 49 Here. While i look "lightly tubby" at 15 1/2 im destined to stay this size i think...case in point. Jan 1st after xmas went pretty hard on the diet. Spent the whole month avoiding chocolate, sweet stuff and in turn eating only healthy foods, fruit, veg. Wife hopped back on slimming world, ran 3 times a week. Ive always tried to excercise 5 days a week for between 30 mins to an hour so i carried on with that, combined with the healthy eating... result: wife lost over half a stone i put on 2 pounds...awesome.

Tonight i have 30 mins of uphill treadmill walking and 30 mins of weights....dont know why i fucking bother as ill never loose any weight..!

Oh and i dont drink and dont smoke...never have...

  2. I need to start doing much more. When I was in Nigeria is was out running and exercising every night and felt great. My back is knackered (didn’t look after it and lifting stupid shit) and when I don’t exercise my back kills me with pain.
I’ve put so much weight on that it’s affecting my riding on track now. Where’s those mars bars and Irn-Bru???

  3. Same with me - get a bad back - so i find washing the cars is the best for it, and excercise. I would say the only time ive ever lost weight was doing the p90 plan. But, i will say is was pretty miserable for 3 months just eating raw veg and egg white omlettes. I did get down to 13.5 stone at that point but as i say - it was no fun...and i might add that i was also riding 100 miles per week on top of all of the excercise....it just seems for me i have to x10 of what the normal person does even to loose a tiny bit of weight...

  4. If Ronnie Wood, then so would I.

I just do 10-20 press ups and sit ups each morning. Have done for years. Plus I eat sensible and moderately in that I dont eat too much. I stop when Im full. I dont keep ramming it in like some peeps. I dont snack and if I do I miss a meal. I can miss meals quite often. Esp if wifey is at her mates. Im lazy. But if I couldnt fit into my Levi's I'd do something about it. Straight away as its a pig to shift weight. Best not to let it start to begin with is my maxim.

  5. My consultant has advised me to go on a lift programme at the local gym and eat well to keep my bones strong and give me the best chances going forward in my battle

My knees are knackered through injury but in the past found the cross trainer easier on the knees than running

Any exercise is good for you in many forms I think you just have to find what’s kind to your body for the long run

  6. 64 in a few weeks time, resting heart rate of 52. There is a fine line between not doing enough and overdoing it, some aches and pains require pushing through and some require rest and recuperation, learn to distinguish between the two and listen to your body. I cycle, hillwalk and am going skiing in a few weeks time. I think it just depends upon your genes to be honest, some are lucky and some aren't, but you can learn to work with what you've got. Not doing it is not an option.

  8. Running is for young people but it is hard on the knees. Cycling is much better.

  12. Trained a bit for this years season. Gyms, they just bore me to death. Practicing yesterday I did notice more fitness, but not bike fit, that’s just another level. But I am where I am at this point.
As for age, the knocks hurt and take more time to heal. Feel great today though, last night was another matter.

  13. that's really bad - has yours recurred since or has it totally healed? Probably varies with age but it seems that once you've had it there is always a weakness there.

  14. DSC ?

  15. Like your thinking, i'm the heaviest i've ever been.

  16. I agree, but apparently Ron Hill ran every day for about 60 years straight. Or something ridiculous like that.

As you say, choose your parents carefully (genes). I'm 5'11" and at my absolute lightest in adult life I've made 82 kilo's, so I'm a bit of a Clydsdale really. Always loved running but a wee bit too heavy to break records. I'm about 86 kilo's now and flat refuse to go up a leathers size! Nope, it ain't gonna happen. I simply tell myself 'lose weight you fat bastard' And that's the end of it by Christ!

  17. Glad you made it to Basra Rob. Warming up now??

Your back knacks because the muscle group around the damage weakens. Do some light treadmill work after or before shift :upyeah:I was the same as a youngster, I'd have a go at lifting anything. Not now....

  18. 'a bit'? you have your own postcode according to rumour... :p

  19. Yeah, it’s warming up nicely mate. I’ll be on the treadmill from tomorrow. I try to do 6km every second night but might try every night as I’m only away a couple of weeks this trip.
