Hi gents is there really much difference in cast and billet brembo calipers performance wise?? Would there be z noticeable difference??
I've got M4 Monobloc (cast) calipers on the Monster and HPK (billet) on the 916 and both work great, obviously bikes are a little different but not so much that a comparison isn't valid - main differences being 916 is a heavier bike and has thicker (HPK) discs where the Monster has the standard Brembo discs, they're both running the supplied Brembo pads which AFAIK are the same? Both have comparable stopping power, the monoblocs have notably more initial bite where the HPK are more progressive (despite having a 'harder' master cylinder setup) and so could be described as having a better 'feel', never any need for more than 2 fingers for any amount of stopping power with either and, for road use at least, I couldn't say either is better but probably HPK, coupled with thicker discs would be better for race/track usage? Both bought new, the HPK cost around 3 times the price and despite having paid it I couldn't honestly justify the extra cost...
I only ask as I've got cast brembo brake conversion on my gsxr thinking of billet calipers but by the sounds of it not worth the money.
I've got the old 40mm spaced cast brembos on my gsxr. It's the billet ones of those I'm contemplating.
