2001,748s,yellow,one owner,all keys and manuals present,4.5k miles,is at dealer so will come serviced,belts,warranty etc Any guidance on what a chap would be reasonably expected to pay for such a thing
he's a dealer so it's marked up more than a private sale which is normal,but it's down to you at the end of the day
At 6k I'd expect it to be very peachy, with no tacky bolt ons. Any mods should be good (e.g. Termis) and OE parts supplied with the bike. Perhaps a stand and cover wouldn't be unthinkable at that price. Its not crazy money, but it's top end for a late S. Yellow is a great colour. You didn't say whether it's a biposto or a monoposto (mono bit dearer usually), check for rocker chrome flaking (is it a generic dealer or a Ducati dealer supplying?) and get the valve clearance service done in the price as it's due at 6k miles.
I've seen bikes priced at some silly prices, 6k is a high dealer price, it needs to be immaculate and have full service Inc belts, valve clr, and just be aware that just because mileage is low doesn't mean its been stored correctly, there is the potential for oil seals to have become hardened and potentially start leaking, simple things like brake pads and fluid will need to be changed if they haven't been done so unless all this has been checked/done to recommission it for the road 6k is too much. Oh and its yellow.
My mate sold his 748R 2001 in yellow (full Ohlins) for £7k at the end of summer private, maybe it would have been £8500 from a dealer. I would say £6k is absolute tops, probably £5250. There is a Red 748S on eBay at the mo, albeit with high miles for £5250 and it looks absolutely pristine.
