Still on my second Multi- a twin spark 2013. It has 16000 miles on the clock-what have I been doing in my life! Started to think about change, as one does, so had a test ride of the 1260 over the weekend.Finished in grey and first impressions no love for the bike. Obviously looks stretched compared with earlier models and personally did not like. Obviously good to ride. Excellent engine ( but so is the twin spark) and the slight lower riding position makes " mounting" a little easier but at a price. Viewed a Pikes Peak waiting to go out and plenty of love for that!!! So probably my twin spark is a keeper for the season. Perhaps treat it to a full terms- again silly money but cheap compared to buying new. And you never know Ducati may have offers at the end of the season
I had a 2013 twin spark. Excellent engine. Not quite as smooth low down as a DVT but much better than the first edition. Having said that, lack of low down smoothness was never a thing I objected to on my 2010. I rather liked the rawness, it was exciting, but as an engineer I appreciate that to be efficient a system needs to be smooth, hence, I like what the DVT can do. I think you are sensible to keep your bike. 16k is nothing to that engine and it's good for many more miles provided its oil and belts are changed as per the manual.
Think detailed comparisons have all been made. Have changed the front sprocket on my twin spark so certainly easier at lower revs in traffic. As said in my OM think the appearance of the stretched bike (I believe by only 2 inches) is not so good. Would certainly be interested in a full termi.
This thread is bizarre timing - same bike - and I have been having exactly the same thoughts myself. Went and had a good look at all the new bikes at the Manchester bike show on Sunday to see if that would help. I came away wanting a V4....but not at the loss of my multi!! Anyone else have a spare termi full system sitting around that they can donate.... Keep us posted on what you decide to do?
If you are looking for a well priced Termi 'full-system' with all the fitting and mapping stuff, in great condition, have a look in the for sale section and give me a shout. Mine, which incidentally, would fit yours perfectly, could be yours sooner than you imagine. TonyN
So - there seems to be a couple of full systems on the forum atm, but £8-850 is a good few months away fir me (belt service, new chain and probly sprockets also in near future, tyres too by mid summer) - however... Leo vince decat pipe (new) is £315 on flea bay....but I am concerned this will be false economy by the time all is fitted, re-mapped, valve eliminated etc etc....anyone done this route can comment on total cost, and whether end result is comparable? End can will be original til money allows, so need to factor that in also. Cheers.
