1200 1200s Co2 Emission

  1. Dear MS owners-a plea for help!
Decided to give my 1200s Spanish residency. Let's face it the roads are fantastic, all year riding without taking waterproofs with you and mot's are every 2 years!
However having jumped through several hoops and handed over a wad of cash, I have met the final stumbling block. Spanish tráfico require the CO2 value for my MS 1200s. It's not on the certificate of conformity or my V5! Ducati Spain want 200€ to provide another certificate! Imagine my reaction!
Can anybody tell me what the CO2 value is? I could then persuade the dealership to print it on some headed paper-maybe!

    Thanks gang.

  2. Cant you just tell them it meets Euro 3 or Euro 4 terms? Surely that is what they really need?

  3. You would think so wouldn't you.....but nope, they want the exact figure which makes a difference on how much tax you pay. Just goes to show that the EU is not really unified!

  4. Ask then to contact Ducati directly, they made the bloody thing.
Oh and thanks for reminding all us frustrated bikers how nice it is riding around Spain.
    :)

  5. Done that aswell, a very polite Italian woman said you have to go to a Dealership in Spain we can't give you the reading directly. Imagine my response!
Oh and did I mention the empty pristine roads in Spain......:p

  6. Sounds like you have come across a "jobs worth". I'd ask to speak to their line manager/director.

  7. Can't you get a readout from an MOT center.

  8. No it is not robbery at all. Ducati Spain did not supply the bike, and so have never made any profit from it and will not have it on their databases. I would not expect any business to do a load of work for free in any country.

  9. Sorry, ended up deleting the post, as I re-read OP and saw that the info is not present in his CoC, so my post was all wrong!

Bobt: 200€ for a 2 side printed sheet of paper is beyond expensive to me :-O not saying it should be free thou!

  10. But €200 is not just for a printed paper. Ducati Spain have never seen this bike so will have to put all of the details of the individual bike into their systems and verify that info to print the paper. Ducati UK will have that data so can just print the paper off.

  11. I've had the equivalent of the mot done in Spain (ITV) and they won't give you the reading. Has to come from Ducati.

I disagree, how much work are we talking here? All 1200s MTs made in 2011 have the same CO2 reading! And by comparison Kawasaki charge 30€ to supply the CO2 details. (The guy in the Ducati/Kawasaki dealership showed me)

  13. Now you are talking about them supplying the CO2 readings when I am talking about them supplying a CofC. You are assuming that all 1200MTs are the same, but Ducati Spain would have to verify that, and that is what costs. It would be natural for them to suspect that a UK bike is different to a Spanish bike as the UK drives on the left and uses miles and gallons.
If you ask me, you are being asked for CO2 readings because whoever is dealing with your importation is a bit dim and does not realise that they are talking about a motorcycle and that is different to a car! Ask to speak to his supervisor to confirm that the reading is needed to import a bike.
