Wanted: Harris Paddock Stand

Discussion in 'Wanted' started by andyp79, Jan 22, 2013.

  1. Hi everyone.

I am looking for a Harris rear Paddock Stand for an 848. It's the same fitment as the 748/916 bikes too but also fits the 848. I nearly bought one on here a wee while ago but I didn't have the cash at the time and the bike was too far into the future to justify spending on it so far ahead of time.

I have had a look at the various options and reckon it's ideally a Harris one I'd like but can't quite bring myself to part with £175 for a stand unless I have to.

Does anyone have one they are looking to sell? Or if anyone sees one for sale could you please let me know?

    Many Thanks.

    Andy

  2. I had a Harris rear stand but I used it maybe twice - the thing was so flimsy the bike wobbled alarmingly when it was on it.

  3. Ok, that's handy to know. I assumed it was going to be the best one around due to the price... maybe I should reconsider!

  4. I had a Harris stand for my 749 and it was great, I loved it.

Plenty of good stands out there. There's an Aussie mob over here doing good ones too - Anderson stands.

I've just gone through this looking for stands for my 848 and bought Kaneg ones. I'll let you know what they're like when they turn up but they're supposed to be middle of the road - decent.

  5. Tony, a double sided stand is always going to be easier to manufacture. For a single sider, all the weight is on one side of the stand, obviously. The Harris stand is just too spindly. It's not the weight, I think the tubes are too small and therefore the structure can flex more easily.

  6. Nooooo!

Fair enough, I'm surprised though as they have a good reputation. Those RS ones look the bidness though. Did I mention cheap too? I'm off to have a lie down..

  7. Thats what I use. I have a left and a right side one. Great build quality and not a bad price.

  8. I've got a Harris one I might sell!

  9. Hey, thanks for all this feedback! I'll check these other ones out. I was close to just ordering the Harris one too...!!

I asked for a deal on the official Ducati one but the dealer will only take about £20 off it if I buy it with the bike meaning it's still £150 for a paddock stand. I think I read on here somewhere that they're not up to much either.

  10. I've got no complaints from my DP / Gubellini stands.

They are what they are....paddock stands. For bigger maintenance/mods I use an ABBA stand or bike lift.

Even the cheap flimsy stands will hold your bike up as long as your not swinging around on it like a monkey.

  11. I like the look of the RS ones above acutally. But somehow the Harris one looks so cool... I'll see if I can find out any more on these two options.

Cheers for all this help!

  12. Meant to add, it's for fairly light duties really I guess. I do want to get a lift though in the future so was hoping to get one that will hold it a solidly as possible so I can use it on the lift too.

  13. Same here, DP one is fine...:upyeah: Only complaint is it's overpriced IMO, mine came "free" with an 848evo. Look out for a secondhand one...

Oh - and one of the wheels keeps falling off....Must get around to repairing that...

  14. well, I don't know if my Harris was typical of the make, but you wouldn't want your pride and joy swaying on a workbench!

  15. oooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwww - just had a look at the Harris website.... Those Stainless ones are rather nice...
