1200 DVT Three Years Base 1200dvt

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Bandit, Apr 17, 2018.

  1. Well guys my Base DVT turned 3 recently. Love the engine and handling.
Changing to a shorter screen has aided more spirited riding being 5'4" I tend to have to look past the taller screen (oe screen or tall Puig).
Mich road pilot 4s sticky. Some adjustable levers for small hand reach and a termi for some music.
So here's the thing. The service light 20day count down has come on I intend to do an oil change myself. Anyway of turning it off - watched various YouTube videos on getting a software license and various leads to hook a laptop upto the bike? Any mileage in this option? Usually do basic servicing myself. What you guys doing after warranty is up?

  2. I changed oil, oil filter on DVT every 3k miles, at 9k still change oil, oil filter, air filter.... leave the service light on

  3. Cheers what about plugs?

  4. 9k miles no need to change spark plug, is your DVT running bad on gas miles?

  5. Hi, mines nearer 10.5k miles. Less mpg (gas miles) since last update. 170 miles to fuel light used to be 190. How easy is the air filter to change?

  6. both side fairing off, tank cover off, lift the tank up, if I remember correctly you need take off four bolt of the air filter cover, remember our DVT air filter same 1199 and 1299, also oil filter same as 848, 1098, 1198....etc

  9. So also need to mention the occasionally flickering dvt's brake light in rain. Anyone else had that? Checked Connections all ok. Then recently my Mrs riding behind said the brake light flicked on once while riding in a rain shower straight road accelerating. ..... hmmmm? Can't replicate at standstill....

  10. Could it be you are touching the rear brake accidentally? Easy done.

  11. I thought I may have but the 1st time it was erratic riding back to Cumbria from Scotland down the motorway in the rain. A friend rifling behind said it was a good thing as vehicles were leaving a big gap behind me. This time a few dabs of the light but I didnt do it.

  12. IME following quite a few multis, I often thunk I see their light on but its sun reflection. Seems worse than other bikes. Probably not that, but certainly have experienced it

  13. Three different people have now described the bikes brake light erratically illuminating. As the brake light is a cluster led they stand out in rain /dull wet conditions so not reflection. With ducati electrics being what they are (I'll spare everyone the list) I hope it's not a major issue.

  14. Probably just a connection, we all know how much the plate ganger vibrates and bounces around!! :upyeah:

  15. You can adjust the rear brake lever to allow it some free play before the switch activates. Usually doesn't need much just a 1/4 or 1/2 turn, So far had this on two Multis and it has always been not enough play in the rear brake lever.

  16. I had an overly sensitive/poorly adjusted front brake lever on a bike once and that used to do it. Faster I went the more it’d press the switch. Unlikely in the rain a spose but it could be owt really.
