Who hasn't experienced a problem with their bike? There's a lot of experience on this forum as well as others... and a lot of information to be shared. I'd like to compile as much data as possible and put together a troubleshooting guide that everyone might benefit from. It'll be kept fairly simple and include the following fields: 1. Year/Model- the year and model of your bike 2. Symptom- very short description of your problem (example-does not start) 3. EOBD- is your engine light on? 4. Error Message- is there an error message present on the dash? 5. DTC- if diagnostic software was used to diagnose the fault, what code/message was reported? 6. Cause of Failure- what caused the failure? (example-bad battery) 7. Corrective Action- what actions did you take to correct the failure? (example-replaced battery) 8. Special Notes- add only if necessary, and if necessary, be brief Please feel free to contribute, but do so only if you're certain that the information that you're providing is accurate to the best of your knowledge and belief. A "thank you" from me will indicate that your contribution has been duly noted.
Think it’s been done before https://haynes.com/en-gb/motorcycle...MI6vPHk6fm2gIVybftCh2tRAH1EAAYASAAEgLmJfD_BwE
Perhaps, and if indeed it has, collectively we can do better. Everyone here, and on every other Ducati forum for that matter, has a story to tell. Thousands of members with thousands of bikes adds up to (any guess?)... thousands of problems. If a member has experienced a problem and can share what he/she did to correct the problem... great! Post your problem and the solution. There's no need to worry if someone has already posted the same; I'll weed out any repeats.
I think if you can answer question 6 then the rest us irrelevant but I like the idea of what you are trying to do to help those in trouble.
Good idea, I’ll give it a go 1. Year/Model- 1991/900ss 2. Symptom- Neutral light not illuminating. 3. EOBD- N/A 4. Error Message- N/A 5. DTC- N/A 6. Cause of Failure- Neutral light switch plunger jammed in switch. 7. Corrective Action- remove neutral switch, manually work switch plunger in and out applying WD40 until it operates smoothly. 8. Special Notes- to remove neutral switch disconnect lead from loom, the connection is approx 20cm from switch, pass the lead through a ring spanner and run the ring spanner down the lead onto the switch.
1. 2014 899 2. Rough running 3. EOBD on 4. 'Eng' error 5. Melcodiag 6. Horiz MAP sensor 7. Replaced 8. Obviously a common problem with 899/1199 from the number of sensors sold by dealers!
