I've just sourced some Termi slip ons and would like the upmap for an 899 to maximise its benefits. Chris
It's not quite that simple as the Upmap is coded to the bike on the 899 if it's already been on a bike, i.e if someone sells you a used one it's likely to have difficulties. I would suggest the better way to go is to get a custom map installed, likely to be more expensive but will really make the most of the exhausts and produce the best power increase and riding experience.
As above, Ducati don't make it simple. When you get the Termis from the dealer you get a USB stick with them. That is then used to allow the dealer to upload the map to the bike to suit the exhausts. Once the USB has been used on a particular bike then it becomes unique to that machine. I don't think the map is on the USB it just creates a key to allow the map to be put on the bike. I may be wrong though and I'm sure there are ways around it but you'll need to speak to someone in the know.
The map can be downloaded and uploaded to the stick and once uploaded back onto the stuck it an be used in another bike, problem arises when someone tries to sell a stick with the map/ unlock still on the bike. I had map uploaded back onto the stick and then sold to a forum member. Upload and download on a 899 can only be done at the dealer or someone who has the soft wear
Many thanks for the feedback. I did think about PCV and custom map as my local dyno place in Plymouth (GT Motorcycles) can't flash the ECU, however I think I might just bite the bullet and take a trip to bristol and visit either CJS or JHS racing.
