1100 What Models In The Range

Discussion in 'Scrambler' started by noobie, May 15, 2018.

  1. Whilst happy to stick to stubble and never a gurly hipster beard, the Desert sled particularly in white reminds me of my old XT. Thinking the 800 missed the point, the mention of the old monster 1100 going in the scramblers peaked my interest but when I go onto the Ducati U.K. site, select scrambler then configure, it goes into Italian.

What model scramblers have the 1100 and those that do not, does anyone know if the desert sled is due for a proper engine anytime soon?

  2. There are 3 model variants with 1100cc engines:
    • Basic (bit like the 803cc Icon)
    • Special (bit like the Classic with spoked wheels)
    • Sport (bit like the Full Throttle with Ohlins suspension)
There are lots of differences over the 803cc versions aside from the engine size, including 3 riding modes, cornering ABS, gear indicator, two under seat exhausts etc. etc. etc.

The 1100 range is also physically bigger than the 803cc version and looks like a "proper motorbike" as my neighbour said the other day. That said (and I can only speak of my Sport) it is as nimble as the 803cc in the handling stakes, is quick off the mark, and sound wise is way gruntier with standard cans, and pops, burbles and farts on overrun!

In answer to your original question I have no doubt that there will be more variants as time goes on, just like they did with the smaller version.

  3. Like you noobie, the Desert sled has started to tickle my fancy. Not had a test ride yet, but the thought has struck me do you need an 1100 motor in a naked ?

  4. My question on the 1100 is more about the size of the unit that will be sitting on it and worried (a) the 1100 is more likely to manage me and (2) me on the 800 looks like I have stolen a kids pit bike.

  5. If it's like a proper motorbike to Hell T then it's tiddly, you'll be fine :):upyeah:

  6. Here's Hell T out with Bettes the other day for scale:
