First Ducati, What A Machine!!

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Myk, May 20, 2018.

  1. Hi all

Just purchased my first ever Ducati, a beautiful 1198s in stunning red with lots of carbon. Having ridden my trusty 2005 Blackbird for the last 8 years I felt I needed some italian beauty in my life.
The duke is very addictive, loving every minute. Only downside is the overly noisy clutch (I know, I know, all part of Duke ownership ;) ) and I need to get used to the low speed riding.

    See you out there

    Mike :D

  13. Thanks for the warm welcome ☺️

Rookie error? Pray tell, always keen to learn more ☺️

And so my ownership has properly begun, now she's a nightmare to start

  14. Make sure the battery is fully charged or put a new one on, I'm getting some new leads from @Exige to see if it helps with cold starting.

Plus there are no bins in your picture. :D

  16. welcome, 14t sprocket will help with town stuff, as will an Oberon clutch slave. If the clutch noise bothers you then fit a closed cover on there, however it will get hotter and require you to take it off and clear out the dust every so often. It's what i would probably do on the road tbh

  18. There is a bit of a fetish of taking pics of your bike with bins somewhere in the shot also. Exi would be a good chap to contact as mentioned and like any twin, they benefit from a healthy battery so with the season ahead and unless you have a receipt for a new battery in recent times, A new battery could be considered but it's upto you?

Like the bird, there are faults but also like the bird, they are mostly well known and offer known fixes or advice within the forum. You'll enjoy the difference
