I have a faulty rear light on my 1000DS, some of the l.e.d's are not working. I have tested the 2 diodes which seem to work O.k. I'm wondering if the led panel is available as a spare part, rather than buying a complete rear light unit which I'm sure will probably be very expensive from Ducati. Any ideas welcome.
Check the individual LED's. There will be a series / parallel arrangement and one faulty LED will knock out a whole section. You can then replace the faulty ones and hopefully the whole lot will light up.
.[/ATTACH] Sounds like a plan Derek The individual led's have a 4 pin connection into the board which will make it tricky( but not impossible) to de-solder. Any de-soldering tips would be welcome, ideally need more than 1 set of hands! Any idea where I can source the led's? Have also considered buying something like this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Smoke-21...291681?hash=item235889f5a1:g:sCsAAOSwQTVV7rAa and seeing if it will fit in the existing light.
Actually @CRYSTALJOHN , I may have one of those lights in my box of bits. Same as 749 isn’t it? If you can wait til the weekend I’ll see if I can find it and, if so, you can have it.
Thanks very much indeed Richard, and M@tt. That will save me so much trouble. No problem waiting until after the weekend Richard, I'm off to the Moto GP crack of doon tmw, back on June 6.
CrystalJohn, if you have one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Draper-235...&qid=1527704094&sr=8-4&keywords=solder+sucker or similar desoldering pcbs becomes very easy, desoldering 4 pins will take just a few minutes

@CRYSTALJOHN I am happy to report that I have found my old light unit. You can have it whenever you are ready! Have a great time in Mugello!
Excellent news Richard.Currently in Florence, off to Mugello crack of doom- if I survive the night where I'm staying!
No. I'm staying in a dormitory full of Somalians, very strange place, but as the alcohol is kicking in I'm starting to enjoy it.
