Hello From Another Isle Of Wight Newbie

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Jimmeny cricket, Jun 24, 2018.

  1. Hello all, sold my kwak on Tuesday bought a duck on Friday, hang on, starting to sound like a Craig David song. So, as i said, bought a Ducati on Friday, 1999 750 supersport, always fancied one and it was going for a good price. Been riding it hard and I've noticed a couple of niggles, but maybe I should post them on another thread and just say hello all ;-)

  11. Oh, yeah, never gets boring going round and round on Island roads, imagine a TT course polluted with old people driving odd shaped skoda's at 25mph, zillions of grockles driving at 26mph while they try to figure out where the hell it is they want to go, tractors doing 27mph while they pull large trailers of hay, trailer never has turn signal and they usually turn as you're overtaking and the occasional horse rider wondering why anyone else is allowed to use the road. Boring, Na

  13. Ok, so I've been trawling the net to find out but nothing definitive yet. Niggle number one, every now and then I can hear a pop, sounds like a quiet backfire than isn't coming from the exhaust pipes.
Niggle two, every now and then, usually after a bout at high revs, I nock it down a gear and it doesn't engage, just sounds like a load of noisy cogs spinning until I hit it again?
    Any thoughts greatly appreciated

  14. Hello Dave! Sure I saw your Duke the other day but can’t remember for the life of me where?! Lovely bike if it was! :)

  15. Hi - welcome !! Nice bike. In terms of gear shift - make sure lever is properly adjusted and clutch is ok - also check chain is correctly adjusted. Otherwise just a positive shift - its all character - same with the slight burbbling on the downshift.
    Enjoy it !!
