Just purchased a 2011 848 , done 14000 miles it’s my first Ducati . For a peace of mind I was going to get the belts serviced an clearance checked , could anyone give me idea of a resonable cost for this ? I’m not very mechanically knowledgable . Is there any signs when using the bike to tell me these need doom or is it just pot luck they go or not . Many thanks Matt
Hi Matt - good luck with the bike. Without being a panic/doom merchant I'd say change them for peace of mind- think the interval is 6,000 miles but unless you know they have been done recently then I'd say change them. My 996 cost £280 if I remeber correctly. Its unlikely they will break but is it worth the risk bearing in mind age and mileage if they have not been done before ?? Good luck
It's really down to mileage and when the service lights come on. The big service on my multistrada is 15000m which is coming up soon. Any service history will obviously highlight things done. The colour of the oil will give some sign of mileage done since last oil change. A nice clear oil is good, looking very dark to black is well used. Other than that it's down to mileage for service intervals. No other real tell tail signs unless it's noticeably rattley .
