I just purchased some Rukka Outlast base layer 2 piece & I was wondering how tight do they have to be...... I won’t scare you with pictures of my rolls & tyres but their stretched a little but far from max stretch or cut off circulation & not uncomfortably
Always, always when multi-layering, tuck everything in the same way every time. Otherwise on a cold day when you're busting for a slash and your hands are numb, disaster...
Thats fine, its the same as in the mountains for hiking for wicking. Ideally you wear them by the skin and they are just comfortably fitting the body. If you are a bit michelin then there's no point having silly tight, just get some big ones and be happy.
Ditto next to the skin, all weathers, they’re supposed to keep you warm in the winter and cool in the summer, although this weather they’ve got there work cut out
In this weather you're better off with a silk base layer. Has all the antibacterial and moisture wicking properties of merino but feels much nicer next to the skin when its really hot. Good in cold weather too but probably not as thermo efficient as merino. I bought a set of EDZ pure merino base layers. They are brilliant, they do stay fresh and they don't stretch or bag. But there is just a faint hint of that wool scratchiness. Not nearly as noticeable as regular wool but its definitely there.
