Hi, Does anyone have a dry clutch retaining tool and a torque wrench that can handle the 190 NM for the clutch centre nut that I could borrow? I live near Amersham in Buckinghamshire, happy to pay for their hire. Thanks
One of these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Laser-To...633077&hash=item25b38dbd12:g:D1AAAOSwSHZWenYY Yes and I'm in Berkhamsted and you are welcome to borrow but for £8 I'd just get my own.
Oh, just seen you need a torque wrench, again, i'd just by, Halfords Pro are good but I use Draper with no issues. Every man needs (several) torque wrenches. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Draper-R...078291&hash=item541e246b5a:g:b8UAAOSwmypbN-0m
George, have you got one of them Laser holding tools? I bought one and it broke the first time I used it!! I now use an old steel with a handle welded on to it. Steve
Thanks for the replies. I was warned off those types of retainers, all the others seem to start around £40. Also, for my small attempts at maintenance I've never needed a torque wrench that goes up to 190NM, got a couple of average ones though. Thing is, I'll only ever use them the once.
Not if you intend on continuing Ducati ownership. You'll have that clutch on/off many many times. Hence worth buying the tools. Saves hassle. Buy 3 TW's - small, med, large oh and a Clarke CEW1000
I don't know if there is really any issue, just from speaking to someone they advised not to get the type that bolts to the crankcase.
Ive also used one of these loads with no issues, Last time i used it i modified it to use with the 48 tooth basket also with no issues
Verily they are shite. I've got a proper clutch tool but liked the look of the bolt-on jobbie as it looked easier to use solo - it snapped like a carrot before I'd even reached the correct torque so straight in the bin it went. The big metal tool is a little tricky to hold whilst applying full grunt to the hub nut but it works. It'd be OK for fitting the basket but the hub torque was just too much, an ally/steel version would probably be OK?
