1260 Exhaust Valve Motor

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by ZR1000A1, Jul 18, 2018.

  1. Anybody managed to remove exhaust valve motor from 1260 (maybe DVT?) without disassembling half of the bike?
Looking at 1200 DVT Service manual (still looking for 1260 one, BTW!) it seems that the motor is attached to a plastic cover. The cover is screwed to a back of a side frame. The manual shows 3 screws, but on 1260 I can see only 2 (maybe I'm missing one?). My concern is that even if I somehow manage to remove these 2 screws the motor (with the cover) won't squeeze between the side frame and the header pipe.
If anyone did it before, please, let me know.
    Thanks

  2. Just fit a healtech exhaust valve eliminator. Valve stays in the open position and no warning lights on dash.

  3. Thanks! I kind of know that. Just wonder if it's possible to completely remove the motor. I'm going to install Akra headers and don't like the idea of a valve cable hanging around.

  4. So you don’t need to remove, drill out , hack saw or any other violent treatment to the valve, just plug in the healtech and forget about it, sounds good to me, same with the 1200 I assume. Where does it plug into And do you need to strip the bike to get to said plug.

  5. That's not what ZR1000A1 asked. He's clearly dealt with (or is dealing with) the valve itself and just wants to get rid of all the superfluous crap that's left behind. I'd like to know the same as I've fitted a DUC-EE and would dearly love to throw the remaining junk in the bin as it's just dead weight that you're lugging around forever more.
