Ducati Insurance Vs...

Discussion in 'Insurance - Sponsored by Ducati Insurance' started by SirDukeMTS, Aug 10, 2017.

  1. So, got the DVT Multi last year, went with Ducati Insurance at the time. Renewal time now and they were looking £350 fully comp, helmet and leathers, breakdown and legal cover. Had a search on a comparison site which had matching policies starting from £165 with MCE and £269 with Bikesure so I thought I'd see if they could price match as per their reminder -

'We would also like to remind you of our price match facility. We may be able to match any alternative price for the renewal of your policy subject to...' blah blah

But no. They can't price match. So for 'may' read 'can't'. In the end I went with MCE. I did look at reviews of them and they're pretty mixed, but to be honest, I can't find ANY insurance company that has faultless reviews. I guess people mainly post when they've got something to complain about...

Oh. Look. I'd be complaining... :D

  3. God belp you if you need to claim, if i were you i would cancel the MCE policy as you are within the 14 day period and go Bikesure instead. Out of interest how much is DI without breakdown and legal insurance?

  4. I was with mce for the last 5 years or so... They did one payout in that time and it was trouble free however they've been hiking the price the last couple of years.... Went with Bemoto. Saved 200 quid or so and got better cover.

  5. Here's the breakdown -

    Last Years Annualised Price 387.01

    Whats included this year...

    Motorcycle Insurance 241.48
    Optional Extras
    Claims Assistance Included 25.00
    Personal Accident Included 20.00
    Breakdown Recovery Included 69.00
    Helmet & Leathers Included 38.00
    Excess Protection Not included
    Promotional Bundle Discount -15.00
    378.48

  6. Interesting. Haven't heard of Bemoto but will look them up, cheers.

  7. Been with Carole Nash for 20 years also seem to get a reasonable renewal cost plus it includes everything I want
I have the breakdown a couple of times it was good in the UK pretty crap in France

  8. They're really good. Most of the people that answer the phone are bikers. I had 4 bikes to insure (630 for the lot fully comp). Mce were loading my insurance as some asshole ran i to our family car ( not our fault), the year before a scaffolders van wrote off our last car and the year before that my wife pulled out of a junction and some bloke was speeding, clipped our car so lightly it didn't even damage our car but mysteriously wrote his off. For those reasons my bike insurance virtually doubled. Cunts. Bemoto said "seeing as your wife was driving all 3 times and she doesn't even hold a bike licence then that isn't relevant to us" Brilliant... Someone actually sees reason. I've never used the track day cover with mce either. Bemoto also gave me gold rac cover into the price also. All my bikes have the extras logged and if anything happens they get replaced like for like.... Akras, wheels, exhausts systems etc etc....

My mate insured his scrambler which he converted to a cafe racer and insured it for 12k with all the extras (which is what it cost him in total) think he paid 150 quid more than the normal price to insure it.

Good company. I expect I'll be with them next year.

Von grumble did a you tube video with their M.D last year... Seemed like a nice bloke so I gave them a call.

  9. Just wanted to throw in my 2 pence worth regarding Bemoto, Friendly lot I have to say and they seem to know what they are talking about - regrettably they were unable to assist me (I travel a LOT and have never really managed to secure myself a single year of NCB, due ONLY to the travel, nothing more sinister) I havent really resided in the UK for more than a few months for quite a while s it was a tough one for them. I am in the Insurance industry and have been for a while (Not your usual Insurance, High value Marine items etc) and specialise in claims. Ended up using the Ducati insurance as it seemed,at the time, the best available to me after purchasing a Multistrada this week, having sold the Hyperstrada and leaving it in Cyprus. I do wonder how good Ducati are with claims and touch wood I wont have to find out anytime soon, Just wanted to give Bemoto some Kudos for trying what on paper looks like a bad risk! I would say, if nothing else, have a chat and give them a chance, I am hoping to move to them at renewal...

  10. +1 shoutout for BeMoto. I used Carole Nash for several years but they wouldn't quote for my new Multi 1260 S and are totally script driven now. BeMoto, on the other hand, talk like real people and were helpful in suggesting ways to lower my costs. They don't charge for changes either unlike most others - especially Carole Nash.
