1200 DVT Pipes Coming Off Fuel Filler Cap.

  1. Just replacing the keyed filler cap with a quick release jobbie ...

There's two pipes attached to the old one - obviously one (left side) is a drain pipe which just goes to the floor, however the pipe on the right goes down and disappears into the dark ... I think it might attach to the carbon filter thingie but not sure.

Is it OK just to leave that pipe disconnected ?

  2. I spent an age making sure they were both reconnected on my old dvt, working on the principal that they are there for a reason, I’m sure someone who’s a little more technical than I will explain the purpose and reassure me that the time I spent reconnecting them was worth the pfaff:)
Btw are you a real policeman of the water?

  3. No worries ... Don't think the overflow is a problem but I'm really not sure how the carbon canister thing works. I know people remove them.

And yes, I'm Harbour Police ... But in 10 years I've never ticketed a bike so no haters !!

  4. My carbon canister is all removed and the pipes linked via a petrol resistant T piece, **which then runs to the underside of the engine to drain if needs be.**

Horn repositioned into the space carbon canister was located.

**I edited this as my first sentence didn't explain thoroughly.**

  5. One pipe is for the drain, the other for the tank breather. Best both connected else the vapour from the breather condenses around the cap and runs down the tank. Yes, it connected to the carbon filter, but it better having fuel run down the pipe than around the filler

  6. Cool ... The new cap doesn't have a point to plug in the breather only a drain .... I assume it won't cause damage to the bike just leaving it tie-wrapped near to the filler ?
