Chaps Looking to replace the head light bulb for an LED on my 2012 hypermotard. Can anyone steer me in the direction of a supplier? Cheers TC
It looks to me like it is a H4 type so should be easy to get. There are some listed on evilbay if you type in your bike model or H4 led headlamp bulb gives you more options and they are cheaper as they are for cars. Not sure if they would be ok in bike though. I assume they would but up to you.
Not had a great deal of experience with LED lamps, but double check they are focused to replicate the H4 light spread. HID are now a mot failure in bikes And LED could possibly fall foul of the same rules???
Not all leds are the same.Tried one in my 916 and believe it or not it was even crappier than the standard bulb.I think there are various types with placement of the lighting elements on different sides of the "bulb",as it were,so not giving the correct focus or quantity,of light.Ive seen some with a lense,I think,at the end.I dont know if these are better.
My MOT tester said LED does not fall foul of the HID rule, but mine will fail. It was an eBay H4. Got my tyres changed a few weeks ago and got him to throw it on the tester prior to my MOT this month. Light cutoff wasn’t defined enough at the top. Philips now do a H4 LED that has the same beam pattern as their oem. It’s expensive though. Cheaper to buy a car twin pack and split the cost with a fellow biker.
