OK guys anyone bled the rear DVT 2015-on Caliper. Watched a few you tube vids. But all relate to earlier pre DVT mutleys.
I've not done it but I seem to recall something about either reverse bleeding from the ABS unit under the seat, and removing and raising the caliper to bleed it ??
Need to do mine and according to the workshop manual is a bit of hardwotk. It says to remove the wheel, remove caliper bolts, raise the position to the top of the disc and bleed in that position. I'll have a look tomorrow morning if can be done in a different way.
Rover yes mate you've hit the nail on the head. Previous mutleys had thin spoked wheels and smaller calipers so you could undo the rear ABS sensor and caliper and fish them (both abs wire and brake hose are connected with clips) through the wheel. On the DVT the caliper is larger and DVT rear wheels spokes thicker preventing the caliper being fished through and 'uprighted' to bleed through with the nipple at the top. Wheel off as you say .....dang it! Where's the breaker bar?
Or use an Abba Sky lift in a stoppie position - and bleed it on the bike.... But taking the wheel off is probably easier
OH well, trying to set my will for the job then. A man and wife job it is removing rear wheel as someone needs to sit on and hold rear brake while the other steps in the 2meters long scaffolding bar. Hopefully the clutch will be easier. Fluid gone absolutely black.
Clutch and front literally bled up.in a matter of minutes. But rear is a man & wife job as you put it lol. My missus already rolling her eyes (she's a biker herself and know the joys of brake bleeding lol)
Done the three of them. Removing the rear wheel is always a pig. I though would be easier after the first time when tightened up with the right torque but 230Nm is still a hell of job to undo. Also, hope the front brake reservoir don't start leak again after messing with the lead. It leaked twice since I've got the bike. Last time in February I got it right and didn't leak since. Will see this time. Cleaning very carefully the diaphragm and only nip tight the screws is the secret. Well, half of the yearly service done. Hopefully today will get the engine oil and filter done as well. Some notes on the service book and ready for another year. https://drive.google.com/file/d/138zcknv6rPXsLZmV1mM4pBx77ALA6lD6/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/187C26Fj1wuL0eojp6U29ZPZL3y6xzb6T/view?usp=drivesdk
