Has anybody fitted a steering damper to there monster and is it needed.front end feels light at time and can twist when you're on the gas hard.any advice?
Maybe raise the rear or drop the front a touch (forks up through the yokes) ? a steering damper may help but I know the SF I tried the other day felt similar when I was riding 'spirited' and I think it may just need setting up for more aggressive riding that's all
Was thinking about getting suspension set up done anyway so will try that first.ive came from a cbr 600rr so I'm still getting use to bike and its characteristics, takes some riding unlike the wee rr which rode itself.so far I'm loving it though.cheers
Mine does that too, but its just the front wheel at the point of lift bobbling on the road under hard acceleration. A cheap solution would be to lift it !!!
Fitted a Scott steering damper to my 1100 evo and it's awesome ! No head shake even under hard acceleration over bumpy road . And it looks trick too ;-)
steering dampers can be nice but probably overkill on the monster (the headstock mounted ones are also very expensive) as the riding position on the monster is quite high/back the front will feel light when you give it some beans add a bit of preload and a notch of damping to your rear shock and remember to lean forward when you accelerate hard and the front wheel should stick nicely
One of my old sports used to do this, it was bloody scarey the first time it happened, I Just learnt to ride it without giving it full throttle in first. I almost thought I'd let go if it carried on. As above I'm also surprised you get any on a monster though, if your worried I'd fit one, they do look good But I've not ridden the 1100
