Today I realised that bottom end in my monster already has a temperature sensor installed as it is from a 2002 SSie. I have therefore made a test and rigged it up to my Koso dash. To my surprise it started reading temperature which appeared to be correct as well. Is it normal that a random sensor works with random dash? Are all sensors working in the same way and just look different to accommodate different engines?
Temp sensors/stats etc all work in the same way in princible. Do you have a voltage meter ? With 12v supply to the sensor, warm it up, stick your meter on the other terminal and look at the voltage reading rise.
They all work the same. measuring the temperature. But isnt the 900sie and most of the Monsters air-cooled . Oil temp sensors. My Aprilia sensor decided to pack-up. It read 120 on the dash before i turned the engine off. the fans wasnt cutting in to cool the rads. I brought a secondhand one on fleabay. fitted today it works fine now. Cutting about 90.
What will that test prove? Sensor was reading the temp and raising or dropping accordingly. I want to know if the ducati one sends the same signals as Koo as in if it is reading15C will it send the same signal to dash as Koso sensor when it is reading 15C. I was thinking about dumping them both to same glass of water and observe reading.
Well I am lost on that. Koso sensor reads 19 ambient while Ducati one 105. Glass of water test Koso 14 while ducati 105. Ducati one in the engine submerged in oil as it should 15
