  1. Been awhile,
after my exams finished, I broke my collarbone in a cycling accident so that put things back a bit, just only now got on with it, but made lot of progress in the last 2 weeks

20180826_161149619_iOS.jpg I decided to get a stock swing arm (always hated having to clean the polished one anyway) and this was the best one I could find (photo is after I put all the bits on, it didn't come like that). put new bearings in it because why not, i'm not gonna have this apart again any time soon.
Put that on the new frame and then with the help of my cousin, we put the engine in and swapped the forks over from the old frame.
That was last week, this week I have put the loom in, put the new hoses on (now wish I had just got black ones because of all the dirt), and put black hoses on the bike (clutch hose is a bit too long, I'll sort that out after I get it running again).

20180910_151338189_iOS.jpg 20180910_151918358_iOS.jpg So currently it looks like this.
Got a few bits from the old bike that I don't need (including the old swing arm), so will be putting them up in the for sale section soon.
Also, just wondering if this should be in this forum of the projects forum?

  2. Broken collar bone -ouch!

Looks like its coming together though. The imageworks guys are great they did a great job on my decals, fitted them and made good cups of tea! Plus a great price.

You really need yellow to match your investment. My bike is red...

  3. It is all being painted yellow at the moment and should have it all next week

  4. Great so lots more pics coming soon!

  5. Little update while I wait for the fairings.
So the top of the yoke had been polished by the last owner and I was never happy with it, so I just put one of the carbon bits over it to hide it.
Anyway, I decided the carbon had to go, so I had a go at cleaning it up but still didn't like it and then decided to try and get a matt finish on it by using some really fine wet and dry sandpaper, after which I used some autosol to buff it up. lastly a couple of coats of matt lacquer and put back on the bike, I think the result speaks for its self:

  6. I just put on my polished top yoke on the sps. The bike is all yellow and black carbon, so need something to break it all up, hence why I like the shiny 50mm termis on it. It's shiny, but not American chrome bling like shiny'...keep up the good work.

  7. Be careful with the shiny yoke, I often find that when riding the sun reflects into my eyes from the yoke - and mine's not shiny.

I covered mine to prevent this until, last year I bought a new helmet that (by chance) has a wider chinbar that acts as a shield - downside is, when riding the Monster I now have to dip my head to read the speedo or see the mirrors...

  8. I put some clear venture shield over it and stops the reflection of light. You are exactly right though, as I have had that problem before, not helpful not being able to see the speedo!

  9. Its alive!

Rubbish photo as I just finished it, but it now runs.
Still waiting for the rest of the fairings to be finished, but we have a moving bike now.
I noticed that the oil is not looking too good, so that is next on the list of jobs.
Got some stock master cylinders on the way and have a stock front wheel, just need to get a rear wheel to match it.

  10. Need more photos,
    Always good when it starts.

  11. Got most of the farings back, one of the lower panels was not quite right so just waiting for that to be sorted. In the mean time gonna do an oil change when I have the time. Here is a photo:

In other news, I managed to get some cast iron discs, just gonna clean them up and keep them stored for the moment.

  13. So I finally have had time to finish this (Baby arrive at the end of December).
A couple small bits need tweaking such as the ride height, but its basically done.
    Some photos:
    20190327_174836011_iOS.jpg 20190327_174847110_iOS.jpg 20190327_174854275_iOS.jpg 20190327_174913673_iOS.jpg 20190327_175003990_iOS.jpg

I have put it mostly to stock, but there are a few bits that are still not standard.
    • HPS screen
    • Ohlins steering damper
    • TiN coated forks with 65 mm spacing for the brake calipers with K-Tech valves and springs
    • 4 pad brembo calipers (forgot what those are called)
    • 1098 brake master cylinder
    • Steel brake discs
    • braided hoses
    • silicon coolant hoses
    • 40 tooth rear sprocket (and 96 link chain)
    • Exact start cables upgrade
I have all the original parts in a box except a screen and I do have the 50 mm termi half system.
I did think about putting the original forks and brakes back on, but the current setup is so good.

Only things i'm missing are an original Ducati rear stand and the yellow bike cover (I will probably never see one of those).
The engine paint is not looking great, but I don't have the time or money to sort that out, plus its just cosmetic and I really want to ride the bike now.

  14. Lovely job there, the whole bike, good to see the new front mudguard clamps nice and crispy white I've been thinking of getting four new ones for mine but they seem pricey.

  15. Mate that looks great, the red brake lines look good too. Tbh I'd leave it now other than the exhaust. The mods you have are good.

  16. The red lines were a bit of an accident, there were from my old bike. I got new black lines to go with the original calipers that I was gonna put on, but then decided not to mess with a good thing.
Probably leave the stock exhaust on for now as it is loud enough and I live next to a school so probably not a good idea to upset everyone there with the sound.

  17. Get the termis on mate.

  18. Mage
Was looking back at this thread and noticed you have not been on here for a while, how's the bike been.

  19. To be honest, I've just not had time to really put it through its paces. Full time job, part time degree and baby have kept me really busy.
I know what the engine is like as I was using it in my old bike, so I kinda just expected it to be about the same as before.

Sometime I wonder if I should sell it and let someone else enjoy it instead of letting it sit there.

  20. Maybe hold that thought until next spring and see if you get a bit more time and at least it won't lose any money if you wait, you have done a very good build to much to let it go just yet,
