What part of my multistrada did this fall off?

  1. Can anyone identify this part?

I was moving the bike in the garage and caught the sight of this part falling, I've no idea where it has came from

  2. The bike HTH

  3. If its the size of a 10p it could be a flexible exhaust or oil cooler mounting.

  4. Have you taken off the cat. If so it's prob just dropped out of bracket behind left footrest that isn't used anymore

  5. No I haven't the only thing I have taken off is the top box lol

  6. It can only be rubber mounts that hold radiator/oil cooler or exhaust mount?

  7. Had a quick check there, them vibration mounts are under rear seat to hold rear fender on too (x4)

  8. When fitted it would have a top hat shaped washer either side to stop it squashing.

  9. I think it's the grommet (Vibration damper pad) which supports the bottom of the oil cooler, see the page for the oil cooler in the spare parts catalogue, part ref 2 – Part No. 764.1.022.1A.

It fits into the removable panel in the bottom of the fairing, see the Fairing page, part ref 6 –Part No. 480.1.293.1A (Half-fairing (front)(bottom).

I found it on the floor after putting the lower fairing back on, when I installed a guard on the oil cooler.

  10. Thank you certainly looks like it, excuse my ignorance but what must I remove to refit it?

  11. Ape2Duc,

Here's a few pics of what they call Vibration Pads which look like your culprit:

They all look the same to me and there might be more but it's likely one of the above is your source.

    All the best, Mark H

  12. Oh great, could be from anywhere! How the hell has that fell off?!

  13. Check the radiator and oil cooler mounts - especially if you have had Guards fitted to either.
    Odds on its from there.

  14. Like you say.. How has it fell off..? Needs a bolt to come loose i guess

If you cant find it, dont worry to much, i found one on the garage floor second day i had bike, ive never found one missing and i have been allover the bike

Can only think it could have been dropped on production or something and got wedged untill it found its way out??

    Thats my theory anyway !!

  15. I will have a scan about this morning to see if there is anything obvious! Big V-Twin like to vibrate I suppose

  16. Does the bike still ride OK?

  17. Spot on-that's it. Prone to come off when beak removed/installing too.

  18. But I've not fitted an Oil Cooler guard?!

Had a look this morning and the only part that seems loose is the tax disc holder bracket, it has one of those rubber pads still fitted but almost seems as if there should be another there?

  19. Jeez, don't mention a tax disc, the natives will be up in arms ;-)

If everything is as it should be, stick it in the spares box for later.

  20. Why's that then?

I have located where it came from and it was indeed the lower rest damping for the oil cooler, I have no idea how it has came loose but it's fixed now, cheers for the advice Steve.

Now the sun is shining, time to go for a blast!
