1299 1299 Shock Heat Shielding

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by 749er, Oct 22, 2018.

  1. hi
Just finished 3 days at Parc Motor and noticed that the shock was not damping that well in the afternoon. I am thinking that the increased temperature that’s building up through the day is thinning the oil out and it’s just pissing through the valve leaving only the spring to do the work.

Anyone else found the same and come up with a fix. Preferably one that doesn’t involve a new exhaust

  2. I just stuck a bit of rubber backed foil heat shielding on the exhaust side of the reservoir, don't know if it makes a difference but makes me feel better.

  3. It’s a plausible idea for sure

  4. It’s what Dave Moss says happens: as oil heats, you needed to adjust everything, And he is talking about a 15deg morning to 25deg afternoon session, not a great exhaust under it!!

  5. How difficult would it be to wrap the exhaust? Bike is still in transit so can’t check myself

  6. Very easy to wrap. It seems a pretty silly design to have put the shock where is exposed to do much heat!!
