749 Lap Times At Silverstone

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by Blakey749s, Nov 1, 2018.

  1. Hi,

Done a 2 more track days at silverstone this year, 4 in total, and got my time down to 2m38.8 (chrono day)
Have read the trioptions guys do 2.12ish !? Crazy...

Just wondered whats a reasonable time on a 749 with slicks?

    Cheers:upyeah:

  2. Probably about 2'12 ;)

I think anything under 2'25 on a track day would be a decent time and hold your own in most trackday groups. Sure, there will be plenty doing sub 2'20 easy, but they will just clear off anyway.

If you want a decent gauge look up club racing results for 600's and take a mid pack time :)

  4. Silverstone’s a funny track for lap times by bikes. Despite having a reputation for being a big bike track because of the straight, it’s actually a track for a good chassis as it’s got loads of very long, fast corners that reward a good rider and a well set up bike far more than the difference between 100 and 200bhp
Just see how fast the moto3 boys go round there

  5. Thats incredible! Wikipedia states moto3 as having 55bhp..and they do 2.12! Only 6 secs off 150bhp moto2. These kids are amazing.

I think its time for some coaching...

  6. Different world entirely. They do 145 plus on a straight...that’s not a regular 55hp bike ;)

  7. And the riders make flat racing horse jockeys look a bit tubby.
