They are just selling the engine , I found the ECU ; looking for looms , it just keeps bringing up 16 pin looms for a 998 as in the 748, is not correct Will look at the 999 looms , the 998 will lend itself as an easier install , with rad pipe work, battery location , exhaust fitment ..
Iirc the s2r s4r monster loom is pretty close match to the 998. Theres a bit of wiring to be done at the dash connector end , and there is one or 2 things that need extending ( side stand switch) or connectors changing but its pretty much the same ecu pinout iirc
isn't the battery under the seat with those though? Not ideal for a track bike and using that loom then the battery main cables will be too short to reposition it to the side of the engine..
yes batt is under tank on the monster, but im pretty sure its possible to mount the battery on the side on the 998 i remember a guy on DSC who did it (Dunlop01 maybe?? ) @CarloL I have a 999 loom & OEM 999 dash thats had the immobiliser removed so can be used with any ECU, will send you a PM
yes the battery can mount on both sides of the 998 and 999 engine but using the monster loom means the main battery cables are too short . A 999 loom is easier as a fix to use on a 748 shape with bigger motor but still a bit of work as the battery box is to the left side means providing a new mounting As the ecu is in a stupid place on a std 999 it means unravelling the loom so you can move it to somewhere better. you'll need a different dash In my humble experience i have actually found using a 1098/1198 loom the better way to go it needs the same moving of the battery to the nearside the std 1098 dash is better than a 999 one there is a ton of wire you can chop out thats not required of course if you go 1198 with dtc loom there are more options for your hybrid.
