Monster 696 ,damaged Wheel And No Keys

Discussion in 'Monster' started by Paul696, Oct 21, 2018.

  1. Hello
    I have recently purchased a Ducati monster 696 2009 crashed ,

It has no keys and front wheel is badly buckled can any one tell me if there is other wheels that will fit the front ?

    Also
Wot do I need to do to get new keys ?

  2. The wheels on your monster look like Brembo 3 spoke alloy cast wheels. They look similar to the wheels on my ST2 and some SS machines. Please compare with your crashed wheel to make sure. Some wheels have matching casting numbers?
Are the forks and frame OK? good luck

  3. From one Paul to the other, hello & welcome. :upyeah:

You’re in the wrong section of the forum. o_O

    1. Introduce yourself in the Newbies section.:)

2 start a thread in the Monster section about your issues. :)

    3. Post pictures. I can’t see the picture @david wiggins refers to, but then I don’t have my glasses on :bucktooth:

4 in return, you’ll get all the help/advice you need

  5. I believe 696 has same front wheel as M796/1100, 749/999 and 848/1*98. It’s not a 3 spoke Brembo.

  6. If the dash can be opened I can read the immo codes for the keys from the circuit board. I can then program the transponder chips to match. An automotive locksmith should be able to decode the pins in the lock and cut a key. Ducati style keys can be had for £1.99 off eBay. Theses can be cut to the key made for the lock and the transponders inserted.

  7. Thanks for the replies and info .

I’m struggling to see cast number on the wheel , where Is it located on the wheel?

That’s great news for the key problem I have , the barrel is currently in the locksmith attempting to make a key.

The wheel is 3 spoke but not Brembo .

  8. Here is the wheel

  11. Sorry, thought the 696 had the same front wheel design as 796/1100. Apologies!

  12. I’m lucky it’s not as there even more expensive to replace even tho they look really good

  13. Yes , I’m also watching the same one , just sorting the key out first.
I’ve finally got the key cut but the shop couldn’t do the programming so that’s the next job . Also could someone tell me wot this is for ? The wire not the tool kit.

    Thanks for the links

  14. Looks like plug for connecting a battery charger/conditioner like an optimate.

    fretless

  15. Is it a stock part?

  16. check to see where wires go from fuse holder ----------
assuming to battery. Optimate and other chargers are non ducati accessories used to trickle charge the battery when bike is in garage. The connector saves faffing around connecting the charger to the battery terminals.

    fretless

  17. Ok thanks for info
