1200 S Left Hand Screws?? Mirror Replacement

Discussion in 'Monster' started by cakeordeath, Nov 12, 2018.

  1. 1st of a few stupid question ( the kind no one can answer ).
Just bought some natty bar end mirrors after some advice from "the likeable rider" on youtube which look great. I looked around the forums and noticed that when taking off the old mirrors you end up with a problem of securing the hydraulic fluid pots in place.
can anyone help with this puzzler please, get all excited and half fit my new mirrors!!!

  2. Yep. I did the same. Ended up ordering a couple of left hand threaded bolts from China off eBay, after trying ProBolt, Ducati dealer etc. They arrived within a week or so, were cheap but did the job just fine. Pots now secured and bar ends fitted ok.

  3. Did you have to use the existing mirror bolts to fix your new bar end mirrors?

  4. No. I put on a pair of Oberon bar end mirrors which came with all the fixings needed. I’m away at the mo, but I’m pretty sure I have a spare left hand threaded bolt if you need - think I bought a pair, but obviously only needed one. Can check later when I’m home if you like.... can add a photo as well if that helps.

  5. Thanks N don't need it.
Bought a couple off ebay to fit a ram ball to the mirror mounting socket.

  6. This sounds interesting did these come with both a left and right hand thread? might work nicely for mounting a go pro and a small satnav

  7. Thats exactly what i did but the ram balls come without the bolts.
Ihad a longer rh bolt and ordered a couple of lh bolts from ebay.
I was in a hurry and ended up cutting the head off and extending the lh one.
Think I had to add 15mm to the length.

  8. NRG, that would be great if you have a spare LH thread bolt, i can find a RH pretty easily, just need to match it up.

    thanks.

  9. Cake or death

So sorry for delayed response.....a nuvver senior moment I’m afraid !! Have ‘dug out’ my spare left hand thread bolt. It a M8 x 16mm. If that any use to you, happy to post it to you....

I’m away for a few days, but back next Fri, so can get it in the post to you then if interested. Cheers Nick

  10. I cut the bolt in half and put it back in

  13. I went the CNC Racing route.

  14. The carbon brackets are nice - where are they from?

How come you moved the left hand switch and lever over? Was that just to get rid of the gap at the bar end?

Did you drill a new locating hole for the switch or just pull the pin out?

I just moved the grip along and glued it with hair spray. If it moves I’ll move the switch along to hold it better

I measured the position of the levers and they’re equal both sides when on the marks it’s the Grip and the switch that is unequal on the left side - I’m guessing it’s to allow for a clamped on bar end mirror?

  15. Yes for bar end mirrors. Carbon pieces are from CNC Racing.
