748 Sp Value (roughly!)

  1. Hi All,

Just about to look at an SP that's been tucked in a neighbours' garage for a few years.
Late model I believe , (1999)(have looked at it in a state of inebriation a few years back) Garage was damp, which didn't fill me with enthusiasm and the bike has had belts and run previously, although I wouldn't be trying to start it again.

Apart from the usual service history, provenance on the matching numbers, what should I be looking for and what sort of money for a bike that definitely needs stripped and redone?

  3. #Condition and mileage/amount of owners play a huge part in pricing, but as he's your neighbour be cheeky with the money...you have nothing to lose.

  5. A 99 would be an SPS wouldn’t it?

  6. Not sure if its a late registered one or not.. Will update once I've been in for a look...

  7. Well, turns out its an R...! (Good news)

    But Cat D.... (bad news)

Looks like we've done the deal anyway as I think a great bike can still be made from it. Updates later...

  14. Pop the tank up and take a pic of underneath as well

  15. 748r should have wider belts.

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  16. An immediate visual guide will be the belt covers, 748R belts are 22mm wide so there will be a 6mm gap between the belt covers and the cases. If you need further conformation, take the tank off and the 748R has overhead shower injectors. Andy

  17. Cat D is not the end of the world, may just mean that it was dropped and damaged the faring.
