I’d sell the SPS. I remember seeing the R and you’ll never find a cleaner sample, ever! You’ll get more brass for the SPS but you’ll get even more money back in the future if you hold onto the R.
Yes, this is along my thinking. The R is so original and it’s still like a new bike from a showroom. If I put an odo with 100 miles on it you wouldn’t question it - it is that good.
If you decide to let the 748 go I have a good friend of mine looking for one after seeing mine a few days back. At £10-£10.5k he would be a buyer no doubt. Message me and I can give you his details.
I’d like to express an interest if it is the R you decide to move on. I sold mine 7 years ago.. they’re old enough to polish it not play on it now! It was actually like selling one of them as I recall.
Thanks, and that's pretty much what I have decided. Ive took the first step and put an advert up for the SPS
I personally have a HUGE softspot for the 748R, especially the later ones with the Ohlins and better brakes, personally I would keep the 748R because the slab sides with the Carbon detailing is the absolute perfection of that bodyshape (as it is in 998r format). The engine is beautifully balanced and the bike can be ridden hard on the road, I just love them...
I'd sell that Hyper you've got in the background. I just sold my 939 to get my 996s, love the old classic Ducatis. But I would definitely be keeping the 748r that's a collector's dream bike. Good luck with it either way.
Much depends on what you intend to do with the keeper. If it's ride it, I would keep the SPS but if you intend it as an investment thing I would keep the R.
