  1. That’s why they invented the second fixings panel pin gun. Got a DeWalt 18v battery varient, awesome bit of kit and a real godsend trying to do stuff one handed. Andy

  2. I normally make a sheet board support when on my own, using a 2x2 plank cut tight to size from floor to ceiling but at the top end have a 3 or 4ft 2x2 so like a letter T to wedge it up, then securing the edges becomes easier

  3. Thanks for the tip. When I built my bike shed I was determined to use nothing but screws, no nails. Don't ask why. I don't know. OCD? I even got the feckers to try and line up. Jeez, I'm sad.

  8. I used my paslode nailgun. I bought the IM350 and the IM65A recently, they cost about £1k for the two but they have nearly paid for themselves in time saved.
Still hard work holding, balancing and getting pressure on the nailgun.

  10. Why use a screw when a nail will do... the polish "chippys" at work use screws every where including framing.. does my head in...

  13. Pulling something apart that has been screwed is a nightmare.. the wood swells around the head and if you don't get the driver lined up with the angle the screw has been driven in on, you fuck the head and it takes ages to sort. This happens a lot.
Pulling apart framing that has been nailed is much easier...
There is a place for screws but not often...

  15. Yesterday we switched our house reservation to a different, and much better, situated plot on the site we are moving to. When we made our original reservation with the builders this particular plot hadn’t been released and they didn’t know when it would be, so I’m pleased I happened to check their website yesterday.

There was no problem with changing and we got to pick all of the tiles, kitchen units etc again too. Plus I managed to negotiate upgrades on some fixtures and fittings and also got them to pay our stamp duty :upyeah:

However I’ve had a shit nights sleep wondering where all our furniture is going to go. Though we will have an extra bedroom I’ll be down on one garage and so planning where all my shit goes will be a challenge too.

  17. The last 3 moves I have put all the loft and garage stuff in storage a couple of weeks before the move. That means you can then sort the house out first then move the crap in over the next few weeks once settled.
I found it made life a little less stressful

  18. Agree , Last move I helped with was downsizing from a 3 bed house to a one bed flat. They identified what they needed to be in the flat as an absolute and then they rented a storage unit close by for just 1 month. Then as the flat came together, what she wanted was in the flat and what was still in storage in week 2/3 she knew she probably didn't want anyway.

  20. A quick Google search shows what used to be a club med place overlooking the Medina no longer exists but that place looks mightily familiar. Marrakesh is a fascinating place, highly recommended, enjoy :upyeah:
