1260 Updated Ducati Link To Support Mph, Miles, And Feet

    Ducati (and it’s app developer) finally updated Ducati Link to support MPH, Miles, and Feet, for units of measurement.

    It amazes me that this profoundly outdated system has not been sent to the archives, if only on the grounds of being user un-friendly. For example, in the imperial system all the following units can occur:

  5. The slug is the unit of mass in the US common system of units, where the pound is the unit of force. The pound is therefore the unit of weight since weight is defined as the force of gravity on an object. While the pound force and pound weight are the widely used units for commerce in the United States, their use is strongly discouraged in scientific work. The standard units for most of scientific work are the SI units.

    A newton can be seen to be the force required to accelerate 1 kg of mass at 1 m/s2. To accelerate a 1 kg mass at 9.8 m/s2 would require 9.8 newtons, so on Earth the weight of 1 kg is 9.8 newtons. Similarly, a pound can be seen to be the force required to accelerate 1 slug of mass at 1 ft/s2. Since the acceleration of gravity in US common units is 32.2 ft/s2, it follows that the weight of one slug is 32.2 pounds.

    The comparison of the slug and the pound makes it clear why the size of the pound is more practical for commerce. But at the precision obtainable in current scientific work, it is undesirable to have the weight of an object as a standard because the value of g does change measurably at different points on the Earth. It is much better to have a standard in terms of mass. The standard kilogram is the mass reference for scientific work.

  8. Made me laugh endlessly on the US Stromtrooper forum (which is a great forum!) when the guys would all convert all the major component bolt sizes to imperial. Even things like fork staunchions would be converted to the corresponding american nonsense instead of the whole number of millimetres that they were made as. Ridiculous stuck in the muddiness!
     
  9. took the 1260 into the dealership service department earlier this AM ... had two (2) TSBs performed, and they also updated the Bluetooth sw, the TFT sw, and one other sw update to the ECU.

    will need to take the Multi back in when the new key fob arrives from Italy, as they ran out of the parts yesterday, doing these recalls. oh well, the bike runs fine as-is, so i can wait.
     
  10. Did you have the 1200 dvt prior to the 1260? Am considering moving up to the 1260... so interested in your opinion.
     
  11. my previous Multi was a 2010 1200 S ... put 47,000 miles on her. she had the full Termi exhaust with the DP race ECU, and the Ohlins SCU upgrade.
    the differences between the two bikes is pretty significant ... power delivery on the 1260 is MUCH more linear ... and feels just as quick, if not a little quicker than the race ECU 1200. and the suspension on the 1260 is much more refined ... a little less "track ready", but much more compliant and firm enough for sport touring, which is what most of my riding these days is made up of.

    IMHO, the 1260 is just a more refined version of the Multi ... one that is much easier to ride long distances.
