Lithium Booster Batteries: Any Experience Here?

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Outliar, Jan 4, 2019.

  1. This "waking the batteries up" will be something new to many.
If I miss a thread can someone else jump in a let people know.:upyeah:

Just a quick manual drain on the battery and then wait 10 seconds or so.
Brake switch works fine on most. :bucktooth:
I've not got a "Healdight" on any of my lithium powered devices.:D

This will prevent a great deal of angst and unnecessary charging etc.:innocent:

Just leaves the fires to worry about. ;):eyes::eyes::eyes:

  2. I bought an energiser one from Aldi when they were on offer and it’s shite tbh. Ok for charging phones etc but no good for starting vehicles as I found out at knockhill when the guy next to me had a flat battery. Stand back said I, this little box will have you started in a second. Made a clicking noise and got warm but that was it.

  5. I went to start my CCM pre-Xmas (lithium battery fitted).....dead. Checked voltage across battery and down to just 1v. Was told that there was every chance it would need replacement. Bought a dedicated lithium charger (some chargers do lead acid too but aren't suitable if battery is down to under 8v - also can't be left permanently connected) and it brought it back to life. :astonished::upyeah:

Buy this one = problem sorted forever!

  6. You can lead a horse to water, but sometimes you are just better off not getting involved with the horse and completely ignoring his thread...

  8. Mosfet reg/rec failure dumps the output from the alternator to earth. Early type of reg/rec failure dumps the alternator output into the battery leading the lead/acid battery to boil dry, AGM battery to overheat and a LiFePO battery to potentially erupt in flames. Andy

  9. Not sure exactly what you are saying there.... I'm an electronics engineer by trade, who just happens to be running his own AC business now..... more than one chapter in this book.

  10. I don't know what mosfet is, or even what a mosfet reg reg does that a regular conventional one doesn't.

  11. Don't worry the net effect without correct design is identical..... FIRE....:broken_heart::motorcycleduc::broken_heart::motorcycleduc::bomb::zzz::zzz::zzz::zzz::zzz::zzz::eyes:

  12. Ok so weve established thst everything will go up in flames... what does the mosfet bit do?

  13. No alarm, so I seem to have some leakage somewhere. I used to have a 12v socket wired up to power the phone battery for satnav, but I've taken that off. So the only other thing wired to the batter is the charger cable itself.

Will replace the cables from batter to alternator when she next goes in for service, and see if that helps the starting.
