Hi Guys, I left work late last night and found neither the high or low beam were working, as well as the ‘pass’ button. Both indicators and the horn are working, all fuses checked; so before I start with pulling plugs, are there any known common issues with this? Thanks in advance, Tel
I don't have a 748R wiring diagram but it is most likely similar to the later 748s. Each headlight has its own fuse, feed and relay. Both lights, both light relay switching circuits and the side lights share the same earth path back to the battery. All the other headstock services earth through different path(s) . If your side lights are also out you have probably burnt out one of the pins (Y) in the round loom connector under the tank front right hand side. You can check for continuity on the main loom from the head light connector black lead to the battery negative using a bridging wire. Pop the round connector apart and have a look for a burnt pin or water sitting in it and you will need to find the head light connector in the headlight area. If you have been blowing bulbs regularly that is also an indicator of a problem with the earth connections/continuity on that circuit
Thanks for your help guys. Had a good look over it last night and found the round loom connector locking sleeve was loose, so wasn’t making a positive connection. Undone the plug. Cleaned the pins up and hey presto! Fully working again
