Ceramic Coating Panels.

Discussion in 'Detailing and cleaning' started by FirePhil, Jan 20, 2019.

  1. Ey up bikers. Soo, the 916 is getting a new paint job. This must be the ideal time to apply a ceramic coating. Has anyone used this, and not the buy in a bottle stuff, the professionally applied coating. Recommendations, and Rob had better be careful, as he is only just over the hill, and will send up with the job!
    Prices and recommendations please

  2. As far as I'm aware ceramic can only be applied to metal. Zircotec is the company nearest me & it does all sort of colours.

  3. Even the best stuff comes in a bottle. From what I have seen. Not sure the flying stones won't probably win In a fight. & them bloody flies with acid for blood. Best of luck.

  4. Another fad that mugs are buying for their Fezzers and so on. Every couple of years something different comes out that promises pure protection against asteroids and so on.

  5. A metal dustbin lid works wonders, just spoils the lines of the bike a little.

  6. Take a look at my avatar picture. That was back in 1973. The shine was like snot on a garden wall. I think I waxed it twice in a year. Cellulose paint no clear coat. I also had some bloody hair then. If I had only ceramic coated my head.????

  7. Get it machined buffed then get PPF (Paint Protection Film) then apply the Ceremic coating on top, that’s what I’ve done

  9. If you only had a brain.

  10. But why? for the next owner to enjoy pristine paint?
Even DB5GT's get resprayed every couple of years to bring them back to concourse condition.

  11. Can't we have paint like my 15 year old washing machine and my 20 year old fridge has got? this stuff they put on household appliances is brilliant

  12. Not ceramic coating...i tried that on the rsv4 - absolute shite....fucked after 2 weeks. Cerakote ive been using recently (found a local lad within driving distance) but had my 525 supermoto motor Xylan'd 4 years back - gave it a clean yesterday and its still in perfect nick....

Been riding the hyper through the winter and after a wipe over they come up like new.

You can also cerakote magnesium also...Xylan does react to it...

  13. Yeah sorry - back to the OP - you cant ceramic coat plastic....anything ceramic or xylan has to be sandblasted, painted and then baked on....i dont think there'd be much left of a panel after that!!

  14. Your all fecked in the head it's all bellox. Paint is a durable substance applied to a surface to make it durable for many years. Why not ceramic coat your car, bike & enhance it value 10 fold. This amazing shite is guaranteed to do nothing but look good for a while. You are all being brainwashed by crap. Talk to a clear coat manufacturer & ask them how good is your laquer. They will tell you it's the best thing since sliced bread. Then go & talk to feckin Hovis.

  15. Wow...firey response....

  16. I know but folk listen to so much rubbish. It is all about money in this world. RIP them all off.

  17. Only reporting what ive found, and used. Ridden through a lot of winters. Anything oem tends to fail. The front of the sump on my z1000 (64 plate) is missing most of its paint, along with a few parts of the swing arm and the front spars of the frame. They'll be getting the treatment soon. My supermoto built by me 4 years ago which ive deliberately used in salted, snow, bad weather and then again, left deliberately in the garage to go crusty....well, hasnt once its been given a wipe over...as everything has been recoated...properly. Just to add the reason i had the generator cover recoated it because it was oem from ktm. It lasted approximately 6 rides out in dry weather throughout last year and the paint quite literally fell off.

  18. Sounds good. Try wd40 it does the same.

  19. It does, but you would be literally cleaning your bike every night through the winter and on most occassions in wet weather, all of it. The advantage of having a decent durable coating means that you dont have to do that. Even in dry weather when the roads have been coated the dry salt on the road is thrown up and sticks to the underside of the engine.

About 7 years back i learned my lesson. In the morning i rode my z1000 (gen 1) to work - by the evenining there was a couple of inches of snow. I rode home, cold, chucked the bike in the garage thinking (ill wd40 it at the weekend) by the time the weekend was there all the paint had been stripped of the bottom of the engine.

  20. It sounds like you actually work for a company selling this product or have been brainwashed. No bike on the planet starts to strip it's paintwork after a night in the snow so you are a dealer of sorts. Before you reply to this thread. I have been a dealer of motorcycles, cars , motorhomes & all for many years & can smell dealer shit. Do not call me on this. |You are selling a product that does not work. Ceramic coating blahh blahh. My bike is immaculate after a nuclear attack it was like new again. Crap Crap crap shite. Anyone reading this thread get out of here quick before you end up buying this most wonderful product, developed by the space agency for the protection of space ships entering the earths orbit at 25000 miles per hr & not a mark on it. your bike will look like new for an eternity.
