V4 Broken Exhaust

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Dukepaul, Dec 12, 2018.

  1. Not sure if anyone else has had this problem (see photo) but when I got my bike up on the ramp this weekend to winter prep it, I noticed the left hand side end cover plate was missing, rang my dealer on Monday morning and today he confirmed that as it is “supposedly” fixed to the exhaust Ducati have said they will need to replace this exhaust in full, so have arranged to get this done at the end of March when it has it’s first service.....

  2. Is this the stock silencer?

  3. Maybe time to uprade to a akrapovic for free due to the hassle

  4. Yes, it’s the stock exhaust, bike has done 3136 miles....

  5. Upgrade time bet a standard exhaust would be about a grand

  6. I'd propose to them you pay the difference in the cost of the stock exhaust and the akra and get an upgrade Paul! ;)
You don't want to be the only one of us without a race exhaust mate! :D

  7. just seen the thread on exhaust fault. Mine blew itself apart at Donnington. Pics show end result. it appears there had been a small gas leak prior to it going bang which blew red hot gasses onto the sump and clutch housing. Warped them both. Bike in right now for oil leak recall and new rear hub bits. 20180529_100839002_iOS.jpg 20180530_103503656_iOS.jpg

  8. Oooft.... You know what this means?.....

Superior after market full system time!! Yay!!

  9. You're a funny guy :laughing::upyeah:

  10. Ditto Paul, We don't want you letting the side down with that quiet exhaust:motorcycleduc::p

  11. My problem with the full system replacements is that they so severely restrict track days available to me. Oulton and Cadwell pretty much ban anything over 102Db, which technically counts out standard cans on most Ducati sports bikes. However they do allow standard cans on and monitor the drive by meters, bust the limit on them and you are off. But, the standard cans don't bust the drive by meters limit, life is good! With a non standard can fitted they wont even allow you to try on track. Anglesey is more accommodating, their limit is often (on Jamie Whitham days, which are the best!!!) also 102Db static, however a V4 with a full Akra measured 110Db static and was still allowed on to test the drive bys. Because of the weird way the council checks noise as a rolling average over an hour, being the only bike over the limit in a session he was ok. Currently trying to get info of Termi on their cans which they quote as 94Db with DB killers in, but they don't say how that is measured. Suspect its tick over, not 5500rpm that circuits test at.

  12. Always had a full (straight through) system on my 999R and 1098R. Never had a problem at Cadwell or Croft. Got the Termignoni Uscite system on my V4S. Now that'll be a different story. I only bother with unsilenced days at Donington, it's bloody loud. But I got it for euro gigs mainly so it doesn't matter.

  13. Am I missing something, but the welding on that can looks %$^&! Reminds me of when I welded the join on my mums shopper when I was 12 after I'd been jumping it off the kerbs....

  14. The welding on that exhaust is some of the worst I've seen in years, and I run a fabrication workshop!

  15. Yeah, I thought it looked pretty grim. That lug! Must add about 6kg to the system in weld rod....

  17. The recall list grows........

  18. I do believe there is an exhaust header recall coming soon: unamused:

  19. Another reason to slap a 'check me out' full system on ;)

  20. Just heard back from Termi about their slip ons noise level that they advertise as 94Db with killers in. Apparently that is measured at 2500rpm, and at 5500rpm as per MSV tests its 110Db, which is the same as a full Akra. Christ knows what levels they are without the DB killers in.
I did the Ducati Motox2 ride pillion to a certain R Mamola at the 2017 GP, now that thing was loud, made anything I have ever ridden before seem quiet, and slow!
