I bought this for my garage..... Costco. SWMBO.... "thank you, I;ve always wanted a kitchen island.... you are so lovely".... didn't have the heart to explain it was for me..... now right in the way in the kitchen.....
Hmmm not sure about that.. the drawer on mine don't open just quite far enough to get to the lil sockets at the back.. every thing is from the same range.. but i have to lift the tray and pull it forwards bit... bit of shoddy design...but other than that , I'm very happy with the kit and price.. If mechanics was my trade or I was rich I'd probably go for the best you can buy. be that snap on or other but it ain't and I'm not so Halfords is all good...
Another member on here had a similar issue with fit. It seems they changed the tray sizes or drawer sizes at some point a few years ago and the new trays don’t work with the old chests or whichever way round it is.
Coz you said you had everything required including the know how... should have known better to trust a southerner...
Been watching this post very interesting. So just letting you all know if you don't already my friend is a Manager at halfords before dinosaurs lol. And he has said some people don't realise that Snap-On and the Best Halfords range tools are all made in the same factory. A bit like brake pads all the the same different branding. And he said if you think about it logically Snap-On give lifetime guarantee SO DO WE HE SAID but people are blinded by Snap-on. And the other difference is Snap-On spend so much money on R&D and have all these different tools thats why Halfords cant have there tools or copy them. The lifetime Guarantee comes from the FACTORY that makes the tools NOT the companies.
Hmmmm, I fell into that trap when I was on my tools... apprentice and then junior mechanic spending my £45 and then £100 a week wages on £10k of tools from the Debt-On dealer... no doubting the quality of Snap-On but as a means (expensive tools) to an end (rubbish paid job with little prestige or respect from others) I look back with some regret. The selling point for Snap-On was that it had a lifetime guarantee, but when Halfords Advanced has the same then, other than being looked on as a god by other mechanics, I don't see what the draw would be for a hobbyist unless buying for the pleasure of having the best that money can buy... in which case, £10k+ still buys me a lot of motorbikes / ferry tickets / petrol / camping trips / paying someone else to service my bike...
Thanks for contributions everyone - quality discussion. I think I’ve concluded on my optimal solution.....
I have an assortment of tools I’ve acquired over the years. Wife bought me a snap on socket set for a wedding anniversary years ago and it’s as good as new. When we’ve been on holiday in the states I’ve followed the snap on van man around and bought stuff off him but my Halfords 150 piece socket set gets used the most. Having said that you can’t beat a King Dick for quality.........
